I'd just like to point out that I've heard John Barnes discuss issues of race a couple of times in lengthy interviews, and I think he's brilliant - thoughtful and articulate, sensible, realistic, the perfect attitude from somebody who has no doubt himself been subject to some racism in his life,  but hasn't  just become some reactionary moralising dhead.
If the FA or the kick it out campaign appointed him as some sort of consultant they'd be taking a huge step forward.

I think part of probleam is that they want everything now and no one is willing to wait for spacail to happen here. We so nearly happened last season. But one man near me having a go at roos or it is another player tell to get f off the field. It does my head in but someone else try getting behind them for a change.

I've been quietly impressed with Shinnie every time I've seen him (I haven't seen a second of Forest away), it surprised me when I saw someone say he only had a 62% pass success rate up in Scotland, because that isn't the player I've seen in a Derby shirt.
I liked Knight a lot for the U23s last season too, though he flew under the radar a little bit with some more expressive players taking the limelight. Wish I'd spoken up about it a bit more!
Shinnie is exactly the player we should play alongside a more creative CM.

Again late on the match day thread, did attempt to send summat In during the match but I’m not convinced anything actually sent- pride park 4g quality strikes again! Was a... strange game today really. We won with two proper fluke goals, can’t be anyone that can deny that. But I still think we deserved the 3 points, despite it being a poorer performance on the whole than the previous couple of matches. Think tbh the fact we got the 3 points reflects poorer on Luton than it reflects well on us, but we weren’t particulary “lucky” to get the result, we were still the better team on the balance of play. That was, however, mainly down to the quality of our defending (unbelievably!) which led to a very rare clean sheet. Much of that was to do with the quality of Bielik and Shinnie shielding the back line superbly, particularly the latter who had a stunning game.
Cant gloss over some of our poor play in possession mind. We did that thing again where we score early and drop off too deep, it’s cost us many times this season, and we’re lucky to have got away with it today, especially in the second half. I don’t know whether it comes from the coaching staff or what, but the negative attitude has to change- we have to keep going and be more relentless! Gave the ball away far too often too cheaply in that second half especially, poor decision making caused a lot of attacking moves to break down and bring more pressure on the defence- Martin the prime cause. Far from as fluid as previous games, but things weren’t helped by cocus changes, it ruined the attacking balance. Need to return to the attacking setup we had previously after the break imo. Waghorn wasn’t great the other night, but at least he’s involved unlike josefzoon. Think Martin especially and Paterson missed having Holmes in there too, though that Was enforced by illness in fairness. Another thing that really needs working on still is our passing out the back, it really is our Achilles heel in terms of both causing problems defensively and stopping attacking moves starting. And it’s all mainly to do with players dwelling on the ball too long, especially the GK, and inviting unneeded pressure. Just show a bit more awareness, think about the pass BEFORE you get the ball, and move it on quickly. Really need to work on that.
Definitely need improved performances after the break if we’re gonna beat tougher Opponents, we’ve got the two weeks to work on things now so let’s hope we do- Cocu certainly needs to show some improvement in that regard to keep support as it hasn’t been great so far. Luckily Luton were poor today and we got the result, which with our form, is what really mattered above all else. Ratings for me:
Roos 6-  Flappy as always, still desperately need better, but at least no major ricks- unlike some goalies👀
Bogle 6- Poorer on the ball than normal, probably fitness related, but still another assist
Davies 7- Strong defensively, struggled passing at times
Clarke 7- Same as Davies, which is much better from him
Malone 7- Standard Malone, good going forward, fast asleep in defence at times
Bielik 8- So much better in midfield, battled well and played some decent passes too
Shinnie 9 MOM- Utterly brilliant performance, so much desire, brilliant breaking up play- fully won a spot in the team imo
    Josefzoon 5- Anonymous as per
Paterson 7- Not quote as good as previous games, but still played some nice passes which were wasted by teammates, and battled well
Lawrence 6- Some nice touches, but far too greedy at times as usual, overplaying
Martin 3- Awful, every touch went to a Luton player. Looked knackered and probably should’ve been rested
    Subs:
Waghorn 6- Battled well and played one sublime pass
Holmes and Wisdom N/A- not enough time

If I'm honest I've been slightly underwhelmed, especially given how decisive we were in getting him in. On reflection though, it's not really fair to expect players to hit their straps the moment they arrive and the lad's had limited chances to show what he's about.
Thought he was a class apart today and just might be exactly what we need to achieve a bit of balance in midfield.

Not a massive amount to say about that one - two very lucky goals so we take them and move on
shinnie - at last we actually play a central midfielder who knows what to do - you know tackle, chase, be in the way, be in the correct positions with the occasional shot - eventually we will play our best team

Just gone through this thread. I'll never be able to work out if I go to the same Derby County games as others.
I thought that was a massively improved performance and we were extremely comfortable. Martin had a poor game, but a few accurate passes and we would have had more.
We kept possession well in defence, were patient and looked in control. So why do our fans have heart attacks when we do it, its bizarre.
And as for Shinnie? Seth Johnson is back.

Today will be the first home game I have missed voluntarily in what I would call the current era (i.e. games from the post-Clough 4-4 with Ipswich onwards)
I get that this is a matter for employer and employee, and that I don’t have a right to have any say in it at all. After all, although I have been a fan since I can remember, as was my dad before me, and his, and his, technically I am just a customer of this business.
Last Saturday I was so proud of the players and management for the way we won that game after such a desperately awful week. The fact that we did so with seemingly honest pros like Davies and Martin who had been written off by so many people just made it even better.
This week we have a player in the starting lineup who has an imminent court appearance which could potentially result in a custodial sentence. This is a result of deeply antisocial and highly dangerous behaviour, which took place at/after a DCFC event. Should I have a right for my opinion to be considered by the club? No. Do I want to go and watch it? Not today thanks.
Always a Ram, of course. Really hope we win today, and I’ll be back, but this just doesn’t seem right to me. I appreciate that others feel differently.

    Well which is it?
It's a football club, you can't just pick and choose when you support it, that's not the way it works.
You either think the club is morally bankrupt and wish to end your association with it, or you don't. None of this 'forseeable future' gubbins!
If you desert the club now there's no coming back from it, nobody is allowed a second chance, everything is binary, remember?
You can pretend you're done with it, but the last line gives you away. (Hopefully) See you in 6 months. 👍

If a player came out and said "I refuse to play for Derby County if Tom Lawrence or Mason Bennett are in the side" people would probably slag them off for putting their personal morals over helping the the rest of the team, for dropping those not involved in the incident in the poo when they most need assistance.
Where's the commitment to the club paying their wages? Going on strike because of a personal issue, at the expense of the team's performance? It wouldn't go down well.
The same people seem willing to withdraw their support, which has lasted many years longer than any player has been at the club, over the same situation.
    Hypocrites.

If you're that disgusted then why did you bother to watch the game at all? Maybe it was because you didn't want to waste the money you'd already invested in getting to the game? Morals are more important tan money though? SUrely you should have done like Owd Miner, turned the car around and gone home?
