Did he? I've seen many people idly speculating about point deductions but no one has explained what the basis for that deduction would be

How long have you been waiting to post that, eh?

I would argue it's not that simple - any manager can do exceptionally well at a specific club - But equally any manager can also do exceptionally bad at another - There are examples everywhere of successful managers who have done poorly at one/two clubs - Mourinho won the league in 4 different countries yet he couldn't halt the slide at Spurs
You appoint an experience manager because they have an (on average) better record - A better chance of doing well for you - But it doesn't always pan out - Equally a newly appointed rookie may do really well for you (see Lampard)
I'm not saying I'd want to appoint any of these guys but Warnock, Jackett, McCarthy, Grayson, Adkins - They all get jobs because clubs know what they're going to get from them - Probably a short period of stabilisation and a pragmatic approach to gaining points
I think Rooney seems to understand he doesn't have the players to be winning every game 4-3 so he sets up to keep clean sheets and rely on a moment or two or brilliance from the likes of Lawrence/Morrison/Sibley etc to win him the game - A surprisingly pragmatic approach for a rookie manager and should be respected

I would normally 100% agree with you about trying to replace EOC players towards the end of the season (and obviously aware that we're currently under embargo but this thread is about post-embargo right?)
However - It seems unlikely to me that Jags or Davies will be continuing as our first choice pairing after this season - So I'd be looking for the club to identify a couple of CBs who could settle in and be a good option (at least) by the end of the season
I think the injury to Kaz has been bad news and think replacing him is now desperate - Plus if we get another season of him being a first choice player I'd be surprised
This season we started in the poop cos we weren't able to tie down contracts - I'd be prioritising getting people in / re-signed who will be in a Derby shirt at the start of next season

Don't worry - There is no evidence
Supposedly Rooney mentioned that he 'was hopeful' it would happen to a 5 live reporter who then mentioned it on air - He's expressed that and more about the situation on multiple occasions in the past 3-4 weeks and it hasn't happened - This time at least we know the books are finally (probably) due
Other than that, business as usual I would imagine

I think that's about what we actually do need - I know everyone has been saying we don't need that many but I think we do
GK - Marshal is off (it seems almost certain), Alsopp is on a 12 month contract, Roos contract expires end of season
RB - Byrne (contract up EOS) + youth players who will benefit more from occasional action/starts than pressure of playing every week
LB - Fozzy (contract EOS) is getting on a bit, Buchanan gives us 2nd option - Probably fine here
CB - We have 3, all old, all on 1 year (max) deals - Need to bring in minimum 2 options
CM - Shinnie (Contract EOS), Bird, Knight, Bielik - If all were fit we'd be fine but I still think we need some proper cover for Bielik
AM - Morrison and Lawrence (contract EOS), Sibley (for me) needs to be rotated out more often - A few weeks playing impact sub role and ease him back in - Think he needs protecting from the constant pressure of games like Boro (get kicked all over the pitch, barely and time/space etc)
Wide-Mids - Jozwiak? Is that it? Definitely need more here
ST - Baldock (contract Jan?) plus Stretton who I still think would benefit from taking away the pressure of being a 'starter' - Would bring in someone who's a 'different option'
On Saturday we ended the game with Bird, Watson, Buchanan and Stretton in our 'attacking 5' - That (for me) is too much responsibility on too many young players - If you have 2/5 they have chance to blend in, mess things up, get told where to go and what to do a bit more by the experienced heads - Stretton looks a real talent but when he comes on he legs it around the pitch chasing everything because his adrenaline is up so much from playing first team football - Compare that to Baldock who's physically very similar, who holds his position so the defence/midfield know where to aim for to pick him out

Under NC we finished 12th and 10th in the previous seasons - I'm ignoring the 3 before that as genuine rebuilding time - But after 3 years NC had enough time to assemble a squad he wanted - We were 14th when McClaren took over and I don't think anyone was entertaining the idea that NC was taking us to the playoffs (never mind automatic promotion) that season
So the 'platform' which you say McClaren inherited was set somewhere between 10th and 14th position - If he'd finished around there the appointment would have been considered 'okay' - any lower would be failure
Then McClaren took us to 3rd (and apart from a dodgy sending off away at Burnley may have taken us higher)
The 8th place finish the season after was a failure based on HIS work the previous season - Not based on what he inherited - He inherited a bog standard mid-table championship side and turned them into contenders
At the time only Hughes was being considered anything above a mid-table player
In fact - Even after that many didn't consider Hendrick to be all that
I've been very clear that he inherited a mid-table side - But you're trying to claim he inherited a top 3 side and then failed - He didn't - He took us to that success

All we know is we were under some kind of embargo and the contract offered wasn't approved by the EFL

A playoff final we wouldn't have got to without him
It's odd to pick out one (as you see it) mistake over the course of a season where he took us beyond what ANY pre-season expectations would have been

If that was indeed the point that people make then fine - Having read this thread and the posts within it a few times the majority of anti-Jozwiak posts just call him a bad player - That's not the same as 'the wrong fit' (which he may be)
As above - The volume of posters who claim he's poor is what I'm indicating
If there was even the slightest nuance to the posts I wouldn't have been quite so flippant - But the majority of the anti-Jozwiaks just call him poor - The fact he keeps getting picked to play for an international side ranked in the world's top 30 suggests he isn't

WHAT?!?!?
But he's terrible! I've seen many anonymous people on this forum say it so it must be true
What the hell is it with these 'professional international coaches' thinking they can just pick a player? Eh? Why don't they check in with people on this forum who obviously know how terrible he is?

I actually don't...
Macca took a team which I genuinely thought was doing well for themselves in upper mid-table and turned them into challengers for an automatic promotion spot
We then slipped in the second season - Back to the sort of place Nigel Clough would have dreamed of us being in...
The only reason McClaren had a team on the verge of promotion was cos HE took them there...
