Well that does rather suggest that the EFL have said a flat no to any of our requests for help/leniency ahead of the weekend - So we've signed the only 3 players we could within the £4.5k a week constraints we're under
If they'd relented and given us a bit more breathing space we probably would have signed more 

I'm not a supporter - I'm a fan - I look forward on pretty much every game with a rising sense of dread

Lets just sit back and see what happens when the new accounts have been submitted and signed off.

I saw someone else confirming in another thread that the debt to HMRC (according to sportscene) is tied into the submission of the new accounts - that HMRC can't work out how much we owe until the EFL sign off the accounts - it doesn't seem to be Morris refusing to pay or even not having the money

In fact you've made me very sad knowing that is extremely unlikely - curse you and your silly, hurtful jokes ?

From that, it sounds like the club aren't in a position to pay it as they and the HMRC are unclear on exactly what the debt would be for and how much it would cost to clear it, and that the club also think the EFL are being unreasonable embargoing us for it anyway, seeing as they've been legally allowed to defer payment to HMRC under the Covid rules, and they're not the only club in the EFL to have made use of this allowance.

Does paying a subscription to Netflix make you an owner of Netflix? Does buying a cinema ticket mean you own the cinema or the movie? Does buying an apple is Tesco give you rights to choose the way they run?

Do we know that's what they were waiting for? I've only seen internet rumour which suggests that is the case

Honestly don't see a huge gulf in quality between him and Lee Gregory - And the latter did a job for us last term

I'd refer you back to page 1 (I know it's been a long time since then)
Coles suggested that we've pre-submitted the accounts to the EFL for them to check them over before the 'officially' submit them - Top ensure that when they are submitted there's no chance of the EFL rejecting them for any reason
It's a sensible approach (I think) after the previous troubles - But leaves us at the mercy of the EFL taking their sweet time to approve them
 
 
Just a thought - Anyone think the EFL are manufacturing a points deduction here? If they wait until we've lost our first 2/3 games before allowing us to sign players it's almost as effective as a points deduction...

Isn't the distinction between"professional standing" i.e. has played any football as a professional at all and "established player" which is the EFL term and used for soft embargo which has the 3 game/5 game / whatever criteria?

I boggles my mind that there can be two different definitions of what counts as a player of professional standing... 

I've always thought that.
I suspect the club thinks that too but are unable to say so because that would make things worse.
We will hear all about it one day, but not before the EFL have had their 'pound of flesh'. 
I find it interesting that this comment has been made in respect of Mel Morris rather than the EFL on several occasions.
We will see.
