NULram reacted to Ambitious in Everton and Forest - FFP
Forest can't be surprised, nor should they be worried about a point deduction - the Premier League is incredibly weak this season because none of them did what they did and spend the best part of a quarter billion after getting promoted. They will survive with a 10 point deduction.
I find the whole thing ludicrous to be honest, as I did when we were in the hot seat. How does a team in the bottom 8 sides in terms of wages in the league break financial fair play rules - seriously?
If Luton wanted to be anything other than the lowest spending side in the Premier League, they would break financial fair play regulations (for example) - it's the biggest con in the sport and what makes it even more ridiculous is that they're targeting sides spending less than a third of some of the other teams in the same league.
Unless the end game is selling broadcast rights to the court proceeding as teams try and kill each other legally then it's a sure fire way to kill the actual product. Too much is made of the team spending the money, how it should be regulated and punished - when equal focus should be given to the team receiving the money.
Wages should absolutely be capped in order to encourage a competitive on-field product, however transfer fees should be uncapped and subject to owner investment. If an owner of Newcastle, for example, wants to spend £500m on a player from Peterborough, for example, they absolutely should be encouraged to do so because Peterborough are benefiting from that transaction a hell of a lot more than Newcastle. No loans that straddle the club with debts - if you own a club and want to invest in a player then open up your own bank account and make it happen.
Restrictions on spending have done nothing to slow wages at the top end, but have had a considerable knock on effect when it comes to transfers lower down the pyramid. Teams used to factor in transfer income into their revenues - now it's certainly not the case. Spending between clubs within the country needs to be encouraged - it helps strengthen the pyramid.
If City buy someone they like from Crystal Palace, Palace then will have money to buy someone they like from Luton, Luton have money to buy someone they like from Bristol City, Bristol City have money to buy someone they like from Stevenage, Stevenage have money to buy someone they like from Hartlepool, Hartlepool have money to buy someone they like Ilkeston & Ilkeston have money to buy someone they like from Forest..
Stopping the top clubs spending or putting restrictions on transfer fees has a much more negative trickle down effect - the players are still getting their payment but the money isn't being recycled around the league as freely as it should. You tie that in with the fact the largest clubs can hoover up any young talent that looks to have something about them for minimal fees before they come of age and you get a very top-heavy, brittle pyramid that is more about preserving status quo than it is improving the state of football in this country.

We're in the 3rd division as the previous owner put us into administration. The EFL then took a chance to stick the boot in by stopping us keeping a 40 year old player, whilst allowing others under embargo to bring in large scale loan reinforcement and also stopped us giving proper contracts to kids on minimal wage that would have  expedited a swifter return on relegation, whilst dumping 9 more points of deduction based on accounting rules that didn't exist.  They followed this up by allowing a couple of chancers to go the faux 'revenge' mission, holding up any sale that may have given us a chance and forcing a sale of the best youngsters and Shinnie for some magic beans.

In Jan we lost Osula and didnt bring in another striker leaving us with just 2 (which we have now), seems like some fans would prefer that situation again than bring Sharp in which is madness.
Yes there have been issues between Derby 'fans' & Sharp but that is mainly down to a group of our idiotic 'fans'. I dont care whether Sharp is a footballer, role model etc he is still a human being & has every right to react to disgusting comments & chants. I know for damn sure if it was me id have reacted much worse than he did.
Is he the ideal player to bring in, no of course not, we all would like a young, fast, strong, tall, athletic, 23 year old striker through the door who scores for fun but I am sure Warne would also like that too. But in our budget that simply isnt going to happen unless we hit the lottery on a loan.
However, if Warne is wanting a poacher type player to add to his forward options then there wont be many better than Sharp at this level even at 37. He will score 10+ goals easy at this level.

Ah yes, after 7 appearances for the first team, mostly as a late substitute, and **only** one goal, we must consign this 20 year old local boy to the scrapper.... ?
I remember Dean Sturridge making his early appearances and thinking "this kid is quick, but he can't hit a cow's a**e with a banjo". How wrong I was.....

He has done everything in his power to allow unfit people to run football clubs and then punish the fans of those clubs to the best of his ability. An absolute wankstain on the history of the beautiful game.

Without wanting to be involved in any of your disagreements with other posters, one point I'd make is that DCFC would have a great case against the EFL if only for the unbelievably unprofessional tone they used.
When they said in an official statement they were "disappointed" a ruling on one aspect went in our favour, then they showed a bias against us. A professional body should not, publicly at least, be "disappointed" that a member of that professional body had been found not to have broken a rule.
Parry was scared of Gibson's threat to sue and caused DCFC to suffer more than was required by the EFL rules because of his cowardice.
No matter what happens going forward, Rick Parry will always be guilty of pushing us to the brink of extinction by his inability to deal with Steve Gibson.
Absolute w****** the pair of them.

Ah, the mythical Ashley offer in January where he claimed through the media he was preparing a £50 million offer, presumably intending to scare off other bidders. It didn't work. It never happened. He then allowed CK to take PB status with an offer nearly £20 million below what his media chums claimed he was willing to pay. He's full of shyte and has yet to lodge a formal offer according to Quantuma and this despite all the BS PR 'I'm still interested' guff. He's now claiming to have made a restructured offer, despite not submitting a formal bid in the first instance and with the period of exclusivity still being in place. Had he honoured his word and offered £50 mill in January, there's a fair chance we'd still be in the Championship. Let that sink in for a moment.
As it stands, Quantuma are adamant that there's been no contact since last year so I think it's fair to assume that in respect of Derby County, he's nothing more than a stalking horse who is quite happy to see us go the wall whilst shafting every creditor, merely to save a couple of million of his reported £2.25 billion fortune. CK may not have his experience, nor his financial wherewithwal, but he's at least put his money where his mouth his and with the club teetering on the edge, I'll take actions over words all day long.

Not so suree about point 4. The claim by Mr Gibson that Middlesbrough (and Wycombe by association [with Gibson’s coat-tails]) lost out because of Derby County’s “cheating” was with the EFL, because Gibson wanted greater punishment than was issued, and applied earlier than it was. Derby couldn’t do anything about either of those because they both fell within the jurisdiction of the EFL. Indeed I believe he actually made his original claim against the EFL, who convinced him to go after Derby, because his success would have opened the floodgates for claims against the EFLuent. Derby County couldn’t decide what the punishment would be, neither could they decide when it should be applied. That was the EFL’s job, so in deflecting Gibson towards Derby County they looked after their own back while stabbing Derby in theirs.

I would put Parry, Gibson and Morris on equal footing.
If Derby die all three have contributed to it. While Morris is the root cause, he's done it out of stupidity and thinking he's cleverer than every one else.
Parry and Gibson have done it out of spite.

If someone, born in Derby having made a fortune selling newspapers overseas or getting lucky on a speculative investment on a computer game, was saying all these things we would be dancing in the streets saying how lucky we were.  Neither ended well. Both started well
The only differences with ck is that he talks with an accent and we don’t quite believe where he made his money.  He’s told us - bitcoin. I understand that as much as I understand people making millions from a computer game.  Until and unless someone shows different I’ll believe him. I’ve never seen Lionel or Mel’s accounts either.
The other thing that gives me confidence is that his company has also been checked out by the PGA. And they’ve run a successful golf tournament. Players have been paid or we might have heard about it.
There are plenty of people around willing to do him and us down - Preston feel aggrieved, fans of other clubs, EFL people, Rooney haters, journalists after clicks - there will be negativity during a period when NDAs require silence. Let’s let it play out.

Surely it is nothing to do with the EFL what price is agreed in a commercial transaction between two unconnected parties. The West Ham figure is no way the commercial rental figure. EFL and Maguire's time may be better looking at commerciality of transfer fees paid by connected clubs overseas. Hasnt he done enough harm? He could probably buy us with the money he has made from our misery. He can do one

Sorry but cant believe some of the crap on here . What do people WANT are we waiting for JESUS to take us over thats never done anything wrong . The amount of people that have done dubious stuff and still in positions of well paid roles is ridiculous you could write a thread 1000 pages long and over on people .
Yes its not great but hey its over 10 years ago who knows if he still thinks the same things but waiting for Jesus will see Derby in the sunday league .
What we need now is the -15 applied this season over and done with and do a rotherham next year at least get back up in 2 years and all of this will be forgotten. Whether mr gibson will be happy at -15 applied this season is another matter and yes i stil lthink he will kick up a fuss and other chairman if its not applied next year .Although technically we are not relegated yet so the application of -15 would count to a penalty this season as it certainly takes us down so its worth going after .
I want Kirchner he is 34 and is obviously an eager beaver . MA wouldnt be bad and a proven track record but even the house of commons took a very very close look at his ethics and it makes me laugh most people would be happy to have him and not kirchner on that basis alone not counting his obvious money pit .
Get Kirchner in a new broom and a new start nest year L1 is not that bad we have been there before we will get out but whether its at first time of asking is the question .

I don’t think it’s strange. Sure MM was wreckless and then Covid spoiled his escape route. He was the instigator of our woes. No doubt about that,
But the EFL ? Supposedly the even handed governing body has kicked us, kicked us again and spat in our faces at every turn. Where were they in the farce that was Boro and Wycombe ? How come we were forced to field kids in a cup game or couldn’t re sign loaned veterans on short term deals. How come when judgements - made according to their own procedures - by their independent panels did they express “regret” or “reluctantly” accept decisions ? Mel made a mess but the EFL wanted to make an example of us and at the same time has been craven and dishonest in submitting to pressure from the likes of Boro. It’s rank hypocrisy and damned nasty

If you have a story it's better to sensationalize the story, Make it bigger and better, KM who goes as the Barron on here wants people to read his blog or protestations concerning DCFC who he believes Q are monsters who don't talk to the EFL, The same EFL who I would walk across the road to piss on them but not put them out.
Ukraine are being blown to pieces, Russia want them off the map, Who's the guilty party here, It aint Ukraine, The EFL have all the power, They hold all the cards, Did you believe when WR said "nobody wants us in the Championship" i've said this on many occasions on here the EFL want a carcus in DCFC to show the world they're not to be messed with.
Journalists are the people who are bearers of bad news as bad news = more readers = more clicks = more views for adverts.
We all have an opinion of Q and the EFL, I'll stick with Q thanks, And duck the EFL

I’m certainly no expert in any of this administration lark. You have to assume Q are. But has part of the problem here been that Q have been trying to conduct business in the ‘normal’ legal way they would with any other business but have been hampered at every turn by an organisation so wholly unfit for purpose, with a completely different set of rules for administration, that it’s made their task untenable? I know they should have known this from their previous experiences, but we have obviously been a special case due to other agents manipulating said rules for their own ends. I have some sympathy for them.   This is why I cannot believe we haven’t ended up in court on the basis that the EFLs rules are probably not ‘legal’.
Anyhoo. I also imagine that Q’s communications have been so bad because it’s not normal administration practice to have to explain every move you make and give running commentaries to customers, people like the EFL (again, an extra tier of nonsense) and the media. Again, they should have expected this, but I assume we are the biggest club they’ve had to deal with and perhaps the level of interest (including from MPs) has taken them a bit by surprise.  Clearly they haven’t really been geared up for it.
All in all, this process has been shown up to be farcical. The EFL will no doubt change rules now so it can’t happen again, but too little too late.
FWIW, while I’m not really sure what we could sue them for, I’d still like to see us take the EFL to court, if for no other reason than it might be cathartic. ?

They absolutely could have avoided this situation and 'won'.
They could, for example, have got involved 12 months ago (Parry's timeline) with the Gibson/Couhig situation.  It might have avoided the Chairman having to say that he knew nothing about the case 12 months later. If that's true Parry ought to resign on those grounds alone. They might just have agreed with our administrators that only joint statements would be consistently issued.  They might have sufficient internal control of their systems that they didn't trot off to friendly journalists with the latest news every 5 minutes. They might have avoided being so disappointed with the results of their own disciplinary procedues once it reported.  They might just have had in place the policies and procedures to deal with our sort of case more promptly - like in the season it happened, or even the one after. They might just have been less in thrall to one Chairman/owner.
And so the list goes on.
They deserve every bit of chastising and distrust they get from now until the day when they're all kicked out and we get some proper, talented people running our bit of the game. I'm not holding my breath.  Charlatans the lot of them.
