I’m going to this, my first attempt at an evening game since the brain haemorrhage 4 years ago.
if you’re in the west stand could you keep the noise down please? I’m usually barely awake by 8.30 so I’d be grateful if you didn’t wake me up just to watch a game of football.
    Thankyou!

Just to add to the Maguire take on things, he is quoting the total wages rather than the 1st team playing staff which is what is required for compliance,  as stated in the Telegraph reporting etc....
All other clubs fans will read his sh¡t and think our playing staff wages are £17.2m over 13 months....
He is disingenuous at best and needs to look at the likes of Snotts Forests spending instead of us !

Well here's an example of what I'm referring to:
"Derby paying rent of £872k a year for Pride Park. Low yield compare to the £80m stadium sold for to an MM company a few years ago."
Do you know anyone else who works out the yield on an investment based on an obsolete valuation rather than what they paid for the asset?
To me, it just looks like he's taking an opportunity to mention a contentious valuation that he disagreed with.

Ah, ok, I'll bite then 😂
With Ebou now fully fit and settled in, Gayle getting there and already having found his scoring boots, Sibley finding some really good form, Joe Ward finally showing what a threat he can be, Waggy back as cover so we actually have more than one fit 9 (his form was decent prior to injury too), Fozzy back in training, CBT to throw in the mix and even Collo due back in training in under 3 weeks, I think it's fair to assume that we might show improvement on those two games that you've chosen above all the others to form your assessment. We might even be seeing young Rooney before the end of the season and with a good few of ours having had very little football this season, I reckon they'll be finishing rather more strongly than some opposing teams' players with nigh on 40 games in their legs.
I'd also argue that the performance against an admittedly poor Vale side also illustrates that whilst they're not quite back to the smoothly oiled machine we saw mid-season, our defence is getting used to changing up between a 3 and a 4 without the catastrophic brainfarts we saw earlier in the season. That in itself bodes well, as given how impregnable our defence has looked at times this season and it's clear already that having a 'fully staffed' midfield instead of just Hourihane and Bird, who were regularly overrun in earlier games, should aid them further. Likewise the arrival of Ebou, who can sit in and screen the back four as well as acting as a midfield enforcer. Defensive benefits aside, Ebou's arrival also allows Bird plus A.N. Other to pursue more glamorous exploits higher up the pitch. Likewise Sibbo, as when he chose to go forward against Vale, Ebou dutifully dropped deeper to cover the space he left behind him.
In the end and this season especially, I guess we all see what we want to see, but I'd argue that we should expect to finish the season really strongly and that unlike some other sides, we still have scope to improve further. Everyone is raving about Barnsley, but I don't see it. I don't think they have the quality we and Portsmouth do, despite their good recent run of form and I remain confident that we will occupy one of the top 2 slots come the end of the season. I suspect they may beat Bolton (tonight), but they still have Portsmouth, Charlton, Stevenage, Reading and Blackpool to negotiate and Bolton's run-in is even tougher.
That's my piece said, so I'll refrain from troubling you further!

I, and a mate became a Luton Town member for the 87/88 season I think it was when they had a ban on away members after our promotion to top flight, we were in Borrowash at the time and the Rams weren't down there until Feb 88 I think, i'd not misses a game since April 85 (Burnley I think) in all competitions and didnt intend to miss any that season, luckily they played Arsenal on August BH Monday I think it was and we didn't have a game so we went down to activate the memberships rather than wait until just our game as thought it would look suspicious......
Only game I've ever been to that the Rams haven't played in, other than a couple of England games, became honorary Arsenal fans for the day as took a couple of guests in each that paid for our tkts also and beers to boot! Must have been 250 Arsenal behind the goal at least, too many to be kicked out in any case when they let it be known, think they lifted the ban after that year so I was able to carry on going to where game through to Boro away 89.

I get that some aren’t enjoying the football.  I can honestly say I’ve not enjoyed every game and we’ve not played consistently well for 90mins in any game this season.  It’s been good it patches.  But I find it bizarre that poor football is a reason to sack the manager when we sit 2nd with about 1/4 of the season to go.  It’s the very reason Mad Mel sacked Clement.  He said something like it’s not all about promotion it’s about how you do it and coined the infamous phrase “the Derby way”.  And yet a lot are advocating the very same action is taken now.
And easy on the eye football doesn’t guarantee anything.  Mac 1 was some of the best football at PP, yet we lost a Play-off final and went from 1st to 8th in the last 1/4 of the season.  I get we lost Martin but Warne has lost Collins.  Mac 1 had Bent, Warne has Gayle.  It seems like they’re very similar scenarios.
And no, I’m not a Warne defender, pro-Warne, Warne supporter or whatever badge some want to put on me.  I’m accepting our situation, position in the league stage of the season, etc.  The time to review is in May, and see how we’ve done.

Absolutely,  culminating in the FACup exit debacle at Colchester where a couple of us @hales300k ahem..... on here  managed to let it be known at the presser on the pitch at the end of the game that it was not acceptable and then 'escorted' Jeremy Keith et al back to their cars after to let it be known that Brown had to go or else there'd be more than a couple of us having a go the next time..... he was sacked a couple of days later!
The football under Brown was worse than this, without a doubt, as stated above, it is the only time in 40 yrs of support I have called for a manager to be sacked!
The problem today is we have spells of decent football then spells of average and occasionally rubbish (which sticks in the mind more) football, where the players, and these are the players so many that beat Warne up over as being better than 2nd in the table and would walk the league with another manager....., are unable to control, pass it or shoot with any purpose then compound that by making individual errors to cost us the odd game, it isn't Warne telling them to give penalties away, or misplace a pass or mis control the ball.... that is because they just aren't good enough to perform at a top level consistently, hence them plying their trade in league 1, (Irrespective of previously playing at a higher level, age and fitness has caught up with them) but it is the squad we have, so encourage them, get behind them as we did against Stevenage,  and help them to get us over the line, starting at 15:00 today!

Me and young Ilkley will renew sometime in April.
I’m obviously the only one.  I’m enjoying this season - goals (some very, very good ones), mean defence, second in the league with a chance of going up automatically or the thrill of the playoffs, but challenging at the very least. So sometimes we misplace passes, sometimes we make mistakes, sometimes we lose games we should win - welcome to human beings playing in the third division. Exactly the same when Arthur was our manager playing an effective style that scraped us up due to a dodgy penalty. I enjoyed that season too.
And we have a club, a team to support. Not so long ago I thought I was going to our last ever match. Can’t get that feeling out of my mind.  Anything, anything is better than that and worth a season ticket

It’s difficult because it’s tempting to lump all the people commenting negatively about Warne into one group which is perhaps unfair.
However, in general it strikes me that everyone comes out so angry and negative when we lose and/or play badly and the amount cognitive bias is insane. We haven’t played that badly in that many games and we have won a number of games quite convincingly this season.

However, it is League 1. The pitches are bad, the players are quite bad (even the better players) and the tactics of a lot of teams are frequently to try and destroy football rather than create nice football.

We have been unable to recruit a replacement for Collins (Gayle hasn’t really had a go yet though) so inevitably that will have an impact. Personally I think we’ve got away with not signing another centre back as well.

From where im standing it seems that, if people took a minute to be remotely rational, they’d realise Warne is doing quite a good job. Not just in terms of league position but even in some performances and the recruitment has been pretty good given the constant contraints.

Of course I have criticisms. The main one is the lack of academy minutes but I’ll give him the benefit this season as the current generation was gutted during admin so that may change in coming years.

    1. Salary Sport has Bradley on £395K pa. With our maximum permitted salary last season being £600K pa, it's hard to imagine Curtis earning less than what Bradley is this season.
    2. Who says Bradley can't play in a back 4?
3 Why are you ignoring Bradley's recent good form?
    4. Wasn't it Curtis' error that caused us to miss out on a playoff spot on the last day of the season?
    4. Cheltenham are still in the bottom 4 in both the league table and the current form table.
Don't misconstrue this as an attack on Curtis Davies - in his prime, he was far, far better than Bradley will ever be - but facts are at least as important as opinions on here.

Honestly, there is so much tripe posted in here after a defeat it is laughable!
We've lost back to back league games for the 1st time.
We are 2nd in the table despite having to deal with a lack of attacking options.
Yes, we would all like to see more flair, more attacking football, but we just don't have the personnel for it atm, our financial restrictions have limited who we have been able to recruit and more importantly, IMO, who we were able to keep hold of.
I really wish we had played a 5 at the back last night with the lack of a left back being available, Sibley at LWB and Wilson at RWB would have given us more attacking options IMO, but he chose to play a 4 with Cashin at LB, a 4 that the vast majority are screaming for despite the personnel not being available.
No matter how poor the football is perceived to be by some, we ONLY lost to stupid, amateurish individual errors again, just like at the beginning of the season.
Is it Warnes fault that Wildsmith had another brainfart? We could see from the South stand that when the ball went forward he would never get there in time as he wasn't on his toes in anticipation, so he should have got close and stood his grd to make the player have to beat him.
Was it Warnes fault that the numerous mistakes from individuals cost us the 2nd goal, fgs, I came from us trying to pass it around at the back instead of launching it forwards (what most people complain about as Warne ball.... so it feels like all those moaners got what they deserved by trying to pass it around with league 1 players!).
I for 1 will be there on Saturday and give him my full support, despite not agreeing with some of his decisions,  after all, what do I know compared to the man that has us 2nd in the table?
And for all those that say any other manager would have us 1st, prove it, Where's the evidence? Who's to say we wouldn't have lost more games? Or is it just your opinion, a bit like mine, so worthless other than being an opinion of a fan that has watched thousands of games but never had access to the inner workings of a club out of administration and the coaching badges to allow me to be on the training ground.

No, I think it’s important to be realistic with where we are, what restrictions we have been under, how long down the line into the rebuild we are, and what we can realistically deliver with this squad week in, week out.
We’re in a position where trade offs are always likely. The irony is if we played entertaining football and were integrating the youngsters but were 10th, in its own way it would be derided. Warne and Clowes can’t really win.
I think it’s a case of recency bias that you want to suggest this brand of football is worse than what came before. It really isn’t. The fact you want to call Rooney’s football ‘compelling’ tells me that you are very entrenched here.

Don’t think you can criticise the subs made. Adams possibly but he’d been kicked from pillar to post and played majority of the game, Smith is just back from injury so need to be careful as Gayle also we need to treat carefully. You can definitely criticise started by line up, but only alternative would be sibs or Wilson at left back, Elder would no doubt have started if fit.

I just thought Smiths interview after the game was telling the players sat back and played safe, the energy and physicality stopped in the second half as well as bravery on the ball. That’s on the players. But first half was a real opportunity to bury the game and team selection played a part in not doing so. It’s easy to blame Warne it’s more balanced to look at the collective.

Im not calling people out for criticising Warne, if he gets us promoted this season or next that’s par performance no more than that, he should then be judged on what he can do in the championship band jury is out as to whether he’s the right man long term, just feel a lot of the criticism he gets isn’t balanced and not always fair

Little wonder our midfield struggles. They are either trying to control a ball fired at them or indeed to watch a ball fly over them.
