IF we lose tomorrow, we could quite conceivably go into our next game v Wycombe being level on points with Bolton. A point would be great.

We seem to be playing so much quicker than previously, it’s really good to watch comparitvely. The attacking wing backs genuinely help going forwards, we have a lot more creative players on the pitch.
Adams been a great signing, Gayle too. Ward is like a new signing and barkhuizen been excellent last three games.
Great time of the season to be hitting form! Roll on Saturday!

If given the choice between being a team of sh*thouses that get promoted or some nice boys that get to stay in L1 for another season I'd take the promoted sh*thouses every single time.

Absolutely. On one team came to play football, they came to boot us and waste time. They got exactly what they deserved, nothing. We played them off the park at times.

I do wonder about some on here. We were miles better than them and I lost count of how many cheaty little fouls they put in tonight that weren't carded. We were also the only side that looked like scoring all night. Does anyone really think they deserved a point tonight? I really don't get the mardiness from some quarters.

    A perfect away day performance.

Decent first half, complete control without creating too much. 2nd half, good 2 goals, soaked up the pressure and hit them on the counter. It could’ve been more. Other results went in our favour. Game on!

Bolton battered Barnsley. I think Barnsley are a pretty average team, performances aren’t great but results have been decent. Sounds familiar.
Peterborough are the dark horses, picking up form again and have a decent run in.
    It’s going to be tight

Frustratingly we had him here at the start of last season. Unfortunately we let him go. Can’t see Hull releasing him now.

Didn’t Warne say we would be unrecognisable this season after a full pre season? Nothing has changed from this time last year when we played the likes of Fleetwood and Shrewsbury at home, after signing players to suit his style of play for the last two windows..

Results starting to catch up with the performances now, another limp display devoid of any plan it would seem.

You are solely looking at the results angle & everything about Paul Warne is pure short term focus leaving little else to justify his tenure here. What you're overlooking is his long term unsuitability & that also has to be factored into conversations about whether he stays or not. The quality of football is poor & a sizeable section of the fanbase do not enjoy watching it (with potential knock on effect for future PP crowd numbers), he doesn't particularly improve players, there is a misalignment with Academy pathway (refusing to even use EFL Trophy matches to give youngsters game time) & preferred transfer strategy in order for the club to achieve sustainability. Warne wants the likes of Sonny Bradley & Conor Washington to secure his promotion (and Michael Smith given half a chance)...the club will struggle to be sustainable with these types of signings. We brought in Mark Thomas last year to identify cheap, develop & sell high...Warne is not suited to this model.
Clowes appointed Warne to get us a quick promotion & that was the expectation of everyone when he was appointed (and why Rosenior was let go). To take your most extreme hypothetical scenario, as the pure remit for Warne being here is a short term focus of promotion, then defeat at Wembley would still be complete failure with no guarantee of promotion the next year & need to continue down the highly paid experienced pro with no resale value route that Warne prefers. I suspect Clowes will be considering how much longer he can tolerate that misalignment with the long term DCFC strategy come May should we faill to go up.

I have no complaints with Warne playing 3 at the back today. Bradley was decent last week and it would have been harsh to drop him. He defended well again today. Maybe Sibley could’ve played LWB as Elder is too defensive for that position, but after last week it was understandable for him to play higher. I thought Sibley was like the old Sibley for the first half hour too, harrying everything until he hurt his foot.
We are just so toothless up top for obvious reasons. 2 sloppy mistakes cost us, but there was very little in the game and they barely troubled us either. My main issue was the start of the second half, we were terrible. The passing was appalling, from everyone. Wildsmith included. Also, Wilson gets into some great positions but he has to deliver more once there. A frustrating one.

1Wildsmith 4…..absolutely horrendous display of kicking. PW said he felt ill pre match, so hope it’s a blip
35Nelson 6.5….pretty sound as usual. A few holes appeared near his station in one spell in the first half
5Bradley 7….another good game. Hope the goal boosts confidence further
6Cashin 6.5….OK….a bit hesitant on a couple of occasions
2Wilson 6…..much better when pushed further forward. Got plenty of balls into the box 2nd half….tbh couldn’t see if they were any good!
4Hourihane 5.5…quality was good. Fed up of watching him in a 2 (to my mind Bird was part of a front 3) where he’s out-run but we need his quality
7Barkhuizen 6….good initial impact, went quiet and then good last 10-15.
32Adams 5.5…good destroyer against a team that wanted to use midfield. Not great on the ball today.
12Smith 6….much better on the ball than Adam’s. Tried to make things happen
20Elder 5….OK defensively but offered nothing going forward.
24Nyambe 6.5….played well. Didn’t have much defending to do…..actually impressed me with some attacking grunt
8Bird 🐦 5.5…..funnily enough, not that impressive as part of a front 3. Could/should have scored after about 10 seconds. Much better in last 20.
    17Sibley 6….did OK individually in a non-functioning forward 3
25Gayle 6….didn’t do much but the whole team structure and pattern of play improved when he and Barks came on. Should have started in my opinion- better to have a team set up well from the outset
11Méndez-Laing 5….score of 5 not his fault. Not a CF. Same as last week….i’d rather see him on a wing putting something into a makeshift CF rather than him being the makeshift CF and receiving nothing.
    Frustrating.
For all the talk about ‘3 at the back’ it looked like 5-2-3 for first half and crying out for a change even when we were winning/drawing.
Looked like a flat back 7 at times at start of second half but thought we actually played OK after going behind and deserved a point.
Can’t fault anyone’s effort or commitment.
