  1. Any contract can be signed in advance; it’s just it’s terms only come into effect on its activation date. Like buying a house. You SIGN and exchange contracts before the day you actually buy the house. CBT will have signed two contracts: one to cover his loan and one (probably dated July 1st) to cover his services once the loan expires. Playing contracts have to be lodged with the League, but only once they are active. And a player’s registration is different to their contract and will remain with the ‘owning’ club while the player is under contract terms, or is mutually agreed to be transferred.
  2. It is very rare these days for new signings to go straight into the team. I’d have thought it would be subs’ bench at best at Reading. But wasn’t it reported he had a slight knock anyway? You never know, that might be true?!
  3. Is his 'true position' his best position or his preferred position, as I reckon they are not the same. His preferred position is probably as a free-rein attacking midfielder but I think his best position is in a more sitting role... on the bench, or better still, in the stand!!
  4. Don Goodman on Sky. What an absolute arse wipe.
  5. I was taught to respect your Elders, but ours is just crap.
  6. Didn’t Warne say he has two number ones? Perhaps he’s given Wikdsmith the first half of the season and Vickers gets the second half? Maybe the players even knew that all along?!
  7. I think this is a valuation from the heavens. BeMoreB4
  8. I get the feeling that the club will not overpay for any player, and by that I mean they will have a maximum price they will pay and if a deal can’t be done then they walk away. The correct approach I would say, but that may mean we sign no one this window - or we’re back shopping in the Tony Springett aisle.
  9. I’m just imaging the negotiations under the old regime… first bid by manager: £250k (rejected) second bid by manager: £300k (rejected) third bid by chairman: £1.8million (accepted, and door locked)
  10. So we know now that a two-goal victory takes us into the top two and one point off top. Come on Derby; step up and grab the prize.
  11. About 30 years ago, I asked for one in a chip shop on White Hart Lane. The server looked at me as if I were an alien.
  12. These bloody puns; drives me crazy. Im going to clip someone tonight.
  13. Not every player in a squad can be a regular starter of course. Think he’ll have enough in the tank to be an impact sub at the very least. He’ll spend most of the 2025/26 season aged 33; hardly over the hill
  14. Actually 80% of points available from here takes us to at least 99 points. On current ppg levels, 94 would be top two. My pedantry aside, I absolutely take your general point that we can not afford to ease off the gas when it comes to wracking up wins.
  15. An 80% win rate would earn at least 110 points across the season; that’s quite a high bar you’re setting.
  16. I think you’ll find that constipation is the thief of time… spent in the smallest room away from your bleating family.
  17. For what it’s worth (not very much!) I think both Bird and Cashin will sign two and a half year deals this month with the proviso both can go for a stipulated fee this summer if the club are not promoted. That would give the players a bit of security (in case of injury) and higher wages with Derby securing their assets a little better.
  18. I'll take quality over quantity any time!
  19. I saw Todd and McFarland play in the Championship winning era, but I was under 10 so I don't think my opinion was the soundest! Over the last 40 or so years, I'd say: Wright; Stimac; McGrath
  20. There were two very good young centre halves on display yesterday: Cashin and Peterborough’s Ronnie Edwards. I was very impressed with Edwards and he’s linked with a £5m move to west Ham this month. The pair of them side by side would be very tasty! The modern day Todd and McFarland.
  21. Hourihane may as well be in the stand. Alongside Barkhuizen.
  22. It would be a meltdown, and quite rightly so. However, there is not a single ounce of evidence to suggest that is going to happen, but don't let that spoil your fun.
