Mr Tibbs got a reaction from Caerphilly Ram in Not a top 3 team.
    Seems a stretch.
He only got them promoted (3 times in 5 years) because of the squad he inherited? What about the 2 other promotions over a four year period? No credit due for bringing the likes of Ogbene, Barlaser, Smith, Ihiekwe, Harding, Ladapo etc to the club in his time?
I think it's fair to say he has his limitations but promotions aren't a given at any level, certainly not with Rotherham United in a league generally full of 'sleeping giants'. I get that he may not be everybody's cup of tea or even the right man to take us up but at least consider the whole picture, there's certainly more to PW than just luckily inheriting a squad during his time up at Rov'rum.

Can’t help thinking some of us are beginning to border on the hysterical with the anti Warne rhetoric. I can appreciate some don’t like his style of football, his mannerisms and/or his way with words but in some quarters it’s going over the top. Getting a little tiresome in fact.

Why not try listening to the interview?
Ed Dawes asked him whether Cashin was saying his goodbyes as he applauded the fans on a full lap around the stadium after the game (which he always does!!!) so Warne sarcastically said yes that was his last game I'm afraid....slight pause... that's a joke by the way before everybody starts!
    It was nothing.
Criticise his management, tactics, etc all you like but people trying to turn his interview into a drama now are just clutching at anything as unfortunately* we won today.
    *That's a joke by the way 😉

    Delighted with the win.
Team still on its arse 70 minutes onwards though, the recruitment from last year and so far this year to blame.
If we can get some consistency and a couple more additions in then I’m hopeful for top 6. The team will get better with time. Hope we get a midfielder better than Smith in because he’s about as average as they come.

My personal opinion is not to criticise clowes.
Hes the reason we have a club. Hes running it sustainably so we dont have this threat again.
Sure the decisions hes made may not pay off but thats normal in life and business.

    I said don't post tonight... 👀
On reflection it's actually not far off. Awful. The bad bits have been done to death.
Thompson looked good, he's got to start at the weekend. I don't really fancy him at this level most of the time but got to say the match up vs Oxford was in his favour for once (height wise) and his performance put most of the teams to shame - purposeful, busy, involved, positive, direct.. everything the midfield lacked.
The formation and manager are obviously not getting the most out of Smith, Bird and Hourihane but they have to have a look at themselves after that. A very typical Max Bird performance after a cracker at the weekend, completely invisible. I don't see how we give it a go with that midfield three this year, it's got to change. They don't compete. No second balls, no movement, nobody showing for the ball... a joy to play against. There was more conviction from the incompetent Pride Park catering staff last night.

I think the problem with Warneball is that we don't seem to be able to play it.
My understanding of the manager's tactics is -
Get the ball forward quickly and attack with aggression at pace but with the extra centre back providing a bit of a shield for when we lose the ball.
Use the wingbacks for width and get early crosses into the box, with two strikers and at least one midfielder trying to get on the end of them.
Press high, hard and as a team to force errors and get possession high up the pitch. The extra defender again provides cover for when the press is broken.
Most free kicks and corners driven into the box, where our well drilled players make the most of the opportunities.
Train hard to give our players superior fitness.
Have a strongly supportive team ethic so players do not fear making mistakes and bust a gut to cover for each other.

To me, that all makes sense. The problems are that we aren't doing very much of it and too many of the new recruits don't appear suited to it.
Someone said we're fickle as fans. No we're not, we're just fans. Like all fans we want results, good football (whatever you define that as) and to feel the team are giving their all. Ideally a manager gives you all three, but most fans will remain supportive if any two of those are achieved. Eventually every fan will turn anti if none are achieved, and that's where we are right now. Paul Warne needs to change things very quickly or he'll be Warne out.

Ah yeah, but let's send them to them umpteen sides in the same league who play worse football than we do. We're midtable in possession and pass success, and by everyone's admission, we haven't been where we want to be performance wise yet, so there's no need to believe than at the very least the plan is to be better than this. Just a 5% rise in possession and 5% rise in pass success would put us top 5 in both categories... and we're currently taking an average of 2 games.
I went way too in depth to defend against a dumb doom mongering take.

It's ok to just admit he missed it Roy.
He can play really well and still miss a sitter. 9 times out of 10 he puts that in. The 'deviation' or speed of the cross isn't beyond the reaction times of the average professional footballer to adjust accordingly. He fluffed it - and that's ok.

I described he first 20 minutes of the second half as green shoots of potential from the Bird - Collo - NML partnership, to a mate. I'd say by the end of the half it was a masterclass. Pretty much all providing for each other at some point, if we were a little more clinical it could easily have been 4 or 5.
There will be debates on Bird's best position still but that is exactly what I think we've lacked from him previously - leaving his mark on the game. It doesn't have to be a stat or goal but having him in the thick of the play is going to benefit him and us IMO.
