Their starting 11 was loads better, I'd have Sterling, Rashford and Pickford but the rest would be their team. Our midfield was average. Defenders are average. We had a world class striker to bring on who'd be a shoe in (albeit not at it recently) for either team. De Beek would walk into ours. They had the three best players on the pitch, one currently the best player in the PL and the other two look like joining the two biggest clubs in the world for mega fee's. Each to their own but they were much better on paper IMO and played like it too.

Why should we be? We're not a top team. Holland have much better players and needed a couple of clangers to get past us tonight. They were a clinical finish or 1 cm of Lingard's toe away from going home. We messed tonight up no doubt but there's plenty to be positive about on the whole when we're talking England.

Who cares? Would have been nice but hardly the end of the world. They're bringing players like De Beek off the bench and we've got lads like Jesse Lingard! Bar two gifts we've done ok.
One bad night in about 2 years is alright by me.

Bar a couple of mistakes we've done ok here against a good young Dutch side. Sancho should have buried his chance and we're plain sailing at 2-0.
We've just made a pigs ear of a few things, no dramas.

    I don't think so.
Looks like we've had another full 46+ game season out of Keogh and almost another POTY. Back on the International scene for ROI. He's the first name on the team sheet every week. Hard to find a place for Bryso in this team other than being cover for injuries/good to have in the background after this season is over IMO. Especially as we keep banging on about cutting the deadwood and not paying ridiculous wages, perfect opportunity to try and solve some of our issues. The same people saying sign him up will be moaning Frank's got no room to manoeuvre in the transfer window!
Whatever Frank wants to do though init.

As soon as Mount came back waghorn turned into a pretty elite level championship striker all round at the back end of last season. You wouldn’t get much better than he was playing In this league imo, Marriott may be the future but he’s gotta get past waghorn yet. Be interesting to see if Martyn can continue his form, we need to properly replace mount if he’s going to.

Think Waggy is being under-rated in here. Same goals and assists as Marriott after playing a couple of 90 minutes more, yet how many of Waghorn's minutes were out stuck on the right wing?
Marriott knows where the net is but Waghorn is a far better player currently IMO.

I don’t think they were better than us but I can’t begrudge the the win. They did the job in a one off game, we didn’t.
Hope they stay up, send some poo like Brighton back down.

I don't even know why we need a singing section tbf. I don't think it's too much to ask for people to give a little bit of vocal support on the day of the biggest game of the year. Hopefully won't be too long before we can put it right and go down and back our team, not just turn up and expect something shiny at the end.
We should have absolutely cheered them off the pitch after the last month or so.

Would be genuinely gutted if we extend Bryson and Johnson. Sentiment removed, Bryson has done nothing for 3 years now and can't actually stay fit anymore. Johnson's replacement has already been signed and a few games towards the end of the season does not change him from being extremely limited.

I haven't seen anyone comment so apologies if it has already been mentioned but Curtis spent a lot of time with supporters on Wembley Way which I thought was extraordinary

Bit of a mixed bag yesterday so thought I'd share some thoughts, always been a believer in bad news then good so we'll start with the bad…

    The Bad
    - The result (obviously). Yes it's a shame we lost and in a weird way I think I'd have been less annoyed if Villa had tonked us 4-0 again, the most frustrating thing is how well we played in the last 20/30 minutes and how close we were to getting an equaliser. I can think of a couple of chances where it goes in, gets to 2-2 and then it’s a difference game entirely.
    - The crowd. No I don't mean the atmosphere which from where I was in block 113 pretty good, especially considering the lack of much to feed off on the pitch. But late teens and early 20s lads who had come mainly for the pish up and couldn't handle their beer (or coke as the case probably was for a lot of them) mouthing off at anyone and everything and generally turning the atmosphere from the family carnival good atmosphere outside to an angry and intimidating one.
    - East Midlands Trains. I was one of the lucky ones and managed to squeeze onto the 18:51 to Sheffield but I could see the probably thousands in the queue behind me.  I get there's a large crowd trying to get back to the East Mids, but no extra trains, no queue system, no information and a dangerous amount of people is a recipe for disaster and generally poor planning.

But……. There's certainly a lot to be cheerful for as a Ram

    The Good
    - We bloody well got to Wembley. Would've bitten your hand off to get playoffs at the start of the season, getting to the final (and beating Leeds at Elland Road to get there) was a dream scenario. Anyone who says we haven't progressed under Lampard, give your heads a wobble.
    - What a day we had down in London. Couple of beers, in the sunshine, soaking up the atmosphere with the fellow Rams. 99.9% of the Villa fans we came across were friendly and up for a chat about the game both before and after, gracious in victory too.
    - Finished above Forest… again
    - We have the best U18s in the country, loads of promising talent coming through the Academy at the minute and hopefully we can start to integrate some into the first team next season as we have with Bogle this season.
    - We're still (as I write this) managed by Frank Lampard - a man who has united the fans, integrated youth, attracted some of the best loan talent to Pride Park, taken us to Wembley in his first season as a manager, and who will continue to learn and get better.
    - We've had some great days this season and I can say I've thoroughly enjoyed it. QPR home, WBA home and away Reading away, Bristol away, Birmingham home, Man U away, Chelsea away… I could go on.
    - We don't have to deal with Sky and their Sunday afternoon, Monday night football nonsense. Proper kickoffs at 3pm on Saturday, cheers.

This is by no means an exhaustive list but you get the idea. The bad points are temporary, all the good is looking to the future. Yes we lost at Wembley, but that doesn't make the future any less bright or me any less proud to be a Ram.

Frustrating to be on the train back hearing people trotting out the same old bilge- "we will never get promoted with him in the side"
I go to games with 2 people who think the same and hate him with a passion.
Dont get it, he would be pretty much the last person I'd be singling out for criticism this season if I was that way inclined.

Nah not everyone. You might have been right in front of us. Got told to “sit down now” 4 minutes in when we broke into the villa half, kinda set the tone for the whole game. Too many Derby fans morbid throughout the game. Villa backed their boys, we didn’t. Not saying that was the deciding factor but we should have got behind them, I don’t think we did in our block.
Everybody creaming over 38k and it sounded like 500. Shocking.
