    This is so true.
Frank is being held to a completely different standard to our previous managers.
As I mentioned before, Frank is deserting the club post-Wembley and we are left to piece things back together less than a week before pre-season and the way some of our fans have reacted suggests they want to line the streets and give him a guard of honour for ‘what he did for the club’.
To be honest, I think appointing Wassall would be quite sensible and logical in the circumstances. We are five and a half weeks from kick off. Pre season starts on Monday. We need someone to come in and hit the ground running, rather than someone new to the club who could take weeks or months to bed in.
Wassall is a club man, he knows the club inside out, he knows which Academy players are ready to step up, he knows Mel and what makes him tick and what he expects so the style of play will be easier to replicate, he knows the first team squad and will have a good relationship with the players, and crucially he won’t kick up a fuss if funds are tight and he has work with the squad he inherits.
The truth is that no-one wants Wassall because he is not a ‘sexy’ appointment. If his name was Wassallinho, we’d be all over it.

Chris Hughton is successful at this level and a top guy. He’d be my first choice.
Second would be Darren Wassall, think he deserves a go if all else fails, he only had 2 stinkers in his games as manager.
At least we won’t have a manager who thinks recruiting Alan Hutton and Sammy Ameobi is promotion winning material......

I'm fuming after watching that. More angry than I've been watching Derby County.
I'm all for promoting women's football. There's so much passion and pride in these women representing their countries. Refreshingly honest and feels like a time where footballers got on with the game, no cheating, no whinging. But watching that was embarrassing. This is a massive opportunity to promote women's football to a worldwide audience, where many people still treat the women's game as a joke. And with that standard of refereeing and the conduct of the Cameroon players, it felt like a big joke. Yes, the VAR is a problem child, Cameroon not knowing the rules of football is even worse. Not one of the decisions they could contest. Should have been at least 3 red cards, if this was the men's game, the refs wouldn't have hesitated to lay down the rules of the game.
Cameroon's women protesting and crying was baffling. What was that about? And the referee was smiling about it? Lost complete control. The one thing they should change at women's tournaments going forward is using professional men's referee's. Until the standard of refereeing improves across the women's game, I see no other choice. Most of the female officials aren't competent at this level. It's not sexism, it's the need for more training and education. They shouldn't feel ashamed to use male officials in the women's game, use them. This crap can't go on.

If I was a manager of a decent League One club and Derby County (my club of 20 years) came knocking, I'd jump in my car with a pen in hand to sign the contract. If Frank goes to Chelsea, I don't blame him. It's his club at the end of the day, we're unfortunately going to suffer but that's life. This isn't the end of the world.
Good luck Frank, all the best. No hard feelings :)

I will sign off on this as well.
And throw in the rumblings of he wasn’t that good anyway, setting the foundations for the don’t let the door hit you on the way out posts.
Granted some have been saying that for months, exceptions will be given, but others which are now starting to turn on him and getting the kicks already with the “if he goes”, can’t say it sits right with me at all. It doesn’t surprise me, but still.
Said it before but I hope I never end up in court with some of you lot on the jury, I would be found guilty before even stepping foot in the dock.
Someone posted earlier back in the thread that they feel this speculation could come back on him next season even if Chelsea didn’t make an approach. Can’t help but agree seeing the state of some social media/forum posts now, couple of defeats and the “should have ducked off to Chelsea”, sadly it’s all too predictable.
Do I think Lampard could have handled it better? Not at all, there is nothing he could have said or done that would not have been twisted into not being clear enough when the next Daily Mail article suggesting he should go to Chelsea drops.
The media have fans wrapped round their little fingers and it’s sad to see how many hang on every word when we have seen time and time again how wrong they can be.
Do I think the club could have handled it better? Not at all, all these calls for new contracts to be given, have people forgotten the new deal Rowett was given amidst the speculation? An extended contract would not prevent Chelsea making an approach if that is their intention. We are not talking about rival Championship clubs with similar resources, we’re talking about one of the biggest clubs in the country.
As much as love Lampard and the season we had last season, I do not want to see us throw more money at him in an attempt to keep him at the club when the contract he signed just a year ago was acceptable for 3 years.
Would I be against the club offering him a new contract? Not at all, give him a 10 year contract for me, but I won’t be naive to think it will guarantee he stays for the duration of the contract and could easily be gone in 6 months if the right offer came in.
I also do not believe a football club should make any statements regarding their manager on speculation over a job that 1) Is not currently available and 2) No approach has been made.
