I think the first half was the worst half of football I’ve ever seen.
But that second half - this is why we love football.
Great spirit by the players and Rooney has his moment of glory and that’s something no one will ever be able to take from him.
But if I am Mel or any prospective owner, I am saying: Enjoy your night. Thank you for your service. But we can’t gamble with the future of this proud football club once again.
    Wilder in, please.

Regardless of what happens today, the pair of these teams are absolutely awful. Slow, lack of urgency, no quality. Dreadful.

That 15/16 season although results wise was a decent year, business wise it was an absolute disaster. The boom or bust model has caused the club to be financially restricted and I think will cost our league status.
The instability off the field has caused this mess. Rooney and his arrogance believing in his abilities has shot him in the foot, however the awful management in recruitment and financial issues is the base to all the problems. I've always thought Norwich was a shining example of a well run club. They even went down to league one and it didn't cripple them financially, because they had the rainy day money in the bank for a worst case scenario. Their owners aren't exactly rich but they've been smart enough to spend within their means. Derby on the other hand have been on the crest of a wave towards utter implosion from within. Like any business, if you don't fix the issues short term, it will ruin it long term. How many years have the supporters been calling for the recruitment to be overhauled? We've done nothing to change anything. Buying dross season after season.
There's a fine line between being competitive and splashing the cash. And unfortunately we've just been spending money on players wlth zero resale value. The Waghorn fee was ridiculous at the time and now we're giving him away for nothing. Spending big money on players in their prime with long expensive contracts in this division with FFP rules has not work, unless the club has dropped out of the Premier League. We haven't learnt our lessons. It is the same mistakes every season. Our recruitment policy has been dreadful for years. Everyone makes mistakes. You have to learn quickly and the club done nothing to correct the problems under Mel's tenure. I respect the man for his large investment. It does not make you on pedestal to be invincible though. We've become a tabloid gossip column under his tenure and I have had enough of being this back page drama club.
This club needs a complete rebuild from top to bottom. I know everyone says this but it is so true. The recruitment needs to be high on the new owners list of priorities because we will slip further down the ladder if this does not change in the summer.

SouthStandDan reacted to uttoxram75 in Is this our worst ever side ?
Lack of leaders on the pitch. Normally in any group you tend to get a few who are vocal, people who lead and encourage, doesn't matter who the captain is, there's normally two or three who lead from the front.
Without Bielik and Curtis Davies we appear to lack that natural leadership. While players like Shinnie, Knight, Clarke, Byrne even, give everything physically, they are not vocal leaders, the type of characters you want to be constantly giving orders, possibly CKR is in that category but ideally you need two or three further back giving it some vocals, whether encouragement or orders, we seem very quiet.
The players are possibly not the worst technically, certainly no worse than many we've seen over the years but seem rudderless and incapable of making decisions themselves.
I mentioned it after the match yesterday, but the 5 minute period where Swansea won the game started with Joz passing a 5 yard ball 2 yards behind the player it was intended for straight into touch.
At that point, the natural leaders are required to bolster the team, keep the spirits up, arm round Joz, all that kind of stuff.
I get the impression they are all expecting someone else to do it.
Jake Buxton and Richard Keogh would have the same bunch of players safe in mid table. We've probably missed Curtis Davies as much as Bielik for his leadership.

I hope anybody that attends outside the ground pre-game does so with good intentions and only to support and encourage the lads.
This lot of players certainly do not deserve to be applauded and cheered in to the ground, however what choice do we have? Whether you like this squad, or any individual player, it doesn't really matter. This set of players currently represent Derby County Football Club and have one game to ensure they don't take us down. Any negativity or abuse directed before the game will not have any benefit whatsoever. The only thing it does is potentially hand Sheffield Wednesday the psychological upper hand.
We need to stay up no matter what. We don't need to be singing, dancing & hugging if we manage to survive. The players don't need pats on the back if they crawl to a 0-0 draw that sees us safe by the skin of our teeth. It's likely our squad will be vastly different next season regardless of what division we're playing in, and from around 3pm on Saturday the vast majority are players I honestly could not care less about, or who they go on to play for next.
However until then, they mean absolutely everything and may somehow still have the opportunity for some kind of redemption after a season which has been mostly filled with embarrassing, soulless performances.
Give the lads the encouragement to get us over the line. The players shoot themselves in the foot on the pitch often enough, let's not do our bit as fans to help them pull the trigger.

I respect any person investing as much money into the club as Mel Morris. He is a good man, a family man and he has always given it his best. My main concern has always been the lack of leadership behinds the scenes to run the club with stability. No matter how much you invest or the integrity of the individual, you have to make sure the club doesn't run into financial problems and as much as it is sad to say, Mel has driven the club into a difficult financial hole.  There's nothing personal about that. It's the fact of the matter.
If he had a better team of people around him running the club, I don't think we'd have been in this much of a mess. He is a very successful investor, it hasn't been a successful tenure as the chairman. Regardless of managerial appointments, player recruitment, the books must be balanced. And the club clearly are having problems. Even without COVID the club would still be in alot of trouble. I don't care if you're a local or foreign, manage the finances of the club well. Has he does this? No.
