  1. I believe a successful team needs a strong captain. One if not leading by example, has the personality to cajole, bully, encourage his team mates to give of their best, when things are no going right in the game. Hourihane's team mates voted for him to be captain but he doesn't seem to be able to do either. Tonight we desperately need that strong captain but one never appeared. Who from our squad has the right qualities to be the leader and captain, I'm not sure. That problem needs to be resolved by the manager, not by a player's vote.
  2. What is scandalous is a midfield that completely failed. They allowed the opposition midfielders to run past them, our deepest sat midfielder didn't do enough to close down these runs, they didn't move the ball quickly, failed to win enough 50 50 challenges and the biggest failure their ability to pass the ball to a team mate. The midfield is the engine that drives the team. Unfortunately our's is misfiring and definitely needs at least one of the pistons replacing.

  7. Tickets obtained for my sixth away game of this season. Already been to more away games than I managed the whole of last season. I'm not an away member so wondering why the availability of tickets to non-members is higher this season than last?
  8. The Wolves U21s were a team of young players still learning their trade, so not getting over excited from beating them. But still came away from the game happy after seeing so many plus points for us. Elder getting a full 90 minutes under his belt. Collins showing he's capable of scoring the goals we need, he just requires our midfield to supply him the chances. Solid performances from Wilson and Robinson, hopefully they'll both be given more minutes in the team. And finally the most pleasing thing from tonight, seeing how well all our youngsters played. After having our academy ripped apart during administration. The young players we now have at our academy looked much better tonight than those playing for Wolverhampton. Shame all those so excited by the EFL Trophy, that they travelled to Notts County for the previous Trophy game couldn't manage to find their way to Pride Park for tonight's Trophy game. They missed seeing all these plus points, along with some well taken goals.

  10. Who's still here in January, from the likes of Cashin, Bird, Hourihane, Nyambe and John Jules. If Elder and Thompson come off it and no one else goes on the injury list. Will determine who we'll need to bring in But whatever happens, I think we'll still need a strong aggressive box to box midfielder and a big mobil centre forward that's good in the air, can hold on to the ball and can compete physically with opposition centre backs.
  11. He is a slow immobile passenger. His one decent forward pass, that led Bird's second goal, isn't a good enough a return from a player that some posters extol as a championship level player. Two other forward passes where straight to the feet of an opposition player and on one of these occasions, instead of trying to get the ball back he turned towards Nelson gesturing for him to challenge the Northampton player. If has many fans have stated, that they want to see us playing the ball through the middle of the park that will require a mobile midfield unit and it can't afford to be carrying a passenger One moment of magic isn't good enough to warrant his being named in the starting line-up
  12. Most confused, after seeing all the recent posts from the Warne out section, that is his football is boring clueless hoof-ball, lacking in sparkle. So why am I seeing words like treat, enjoy, great entertainment, amazing and playing through midfield, from people describing tonights performance? Could the call for the sacking of Warne, be a little premature? Should we show the same faith, that Clowes has in Warne and give both our full support?

  14. So who doing to build this wonder team capable of playing good attractive football, who should we give the job to? Importantly from where are they going to acquire all these young players? More importantly how are we going to fund this. May be all the Warne out brigade can start a go fund me page. Hell why not ask the Clowes detractors to chip in. Then buy the club and run it how they want it to be run. I do hope there'll be a few million quid left over after acquiring the club. As I'm sure changing the manager and assembling a squad of talented youngsters won't come cheap. And I wouldn't like to see fans turn on the new owners and manager, because they didn't spend money they didn't have and failed to get us immediately promoted.
  15. Had the same message after buying my tickets, then got an email confirming purchase. The same happened when I've previously bought tickets. So not expecting to be any problems when I go to collect the tickets.

  17. What is classified as long term? 5,10,15,50 years? Realistic ambitions for the next Five years:- Back in the Championship.I Ten to Fifteen years:- Promotion to the Premiership I'll be long gone by this time, but hopefully in 50 years. We'll be an established top half Premiership team, there'll also be Wembley wins,European nights and a new larger Pride Park built, to cater for the increase of supporters coming to see the sparkling football played by the Rams.
  18. As much as I dislike saying it, Derby is a craphole. Where are our grand public buildings that I see in many other towns and cities, when travelling around the country? From the 1960s every council in charge of our town/city, have done their utmost to remove any building of historical interest we had. To then replace them with some of the most gross architecture imaginable. When we had the chance to redevelop the market place, the old market, the bus station and the ice factory. Look at what eyesores we've ended up with. I await with interest to see what the proposed concert/music venue will end up looking like.
  19. Hourihane:- Hard working, in patches but not enough through out a match, so a no. Instinct, no. Intelligence, it'll be a yes just needs to use it more. Which is why with only having one out of the three abilities. He's plying his trade with us and not with a championship club. Like some posters believe he was capable of doing, when extolling his signing as a great piece of business by the former manager. Unfortunately he's not the only one considered as a great signing, at their time of signing. Who are not ripping up this division, like many thought they would. Is this failure of the manager, I'm sure they'll be many on here eager to point in that direction. Or could it be that these players no longer have enough of the three attributes, the OP considers a good player needs.
  20. Why stop at a Mazda. Lets take out a loan and go with something new straight from the factory. If the new car doesn't get us where we want to go. We can always refinance and go with something sporty. If we're still lagging behind lets go all in and re-mortgage the house to buy the best car we can. Oh wait, I'm sure we've try this before and if memory serves correctly. This strategy nearly cost us dearly.

  22. All sounds good but leaves enough loopholes to drive a fleet of double decker buses through. Lets say someone like Jeff Bazos decides he wants to own a football club. I'll give you one guess on what company would be pouring in millions of pounds in sponsorship.
  23. If reports are true, Sunak's announcement that the second leg of HS2 was to be scrapped, was recorded at Downing street before he travelled to Manchester. But between the times of the recording and it's release, he and other government ministers were stating no decision had been made on HS2, when it clearly had. What is more disconcerting if true, is that during the time between when the decision was made and when it was announced. Millions of pounds was still allowed to be spent on the compulsory purchase of land for the second leg of HS2. I wonder how much money as already been spent on the second leg and how much will continue being spent while shutting the project down.
  24. We've had numerous posts bemoaning Warne's tactics, of his playing five at the back which as caused much contention amongst fans. Yes the games he has used this system hasn't always been a great success. But as this failure been due to the system or is it down to the unavailability of the players that can play it. Against Blackpool on Tuesday we played with a back five that looked comfortable playing it. So should Warne stick with a five or should he revert back to a four? Also we did have a midfield three that worked well together which helped.
