That should only be the case for the next 2/3 games. Once the accounts are in we should be able to play Cashin and LThompson... maybe in time for the cup?

    Probably when Pearson came in.
7 goals and 1 assist (in 2481 mins) in the Clement/Wassall season. 6 goals and 8 assists in 4041 mins at Huddersfield.
Then Pearson came in and tried to shove him out on the wing and got just 1 goal and 2 assists from him in 2985 mins. Then Rowett came in and sent him packing to Sheffield.

The thing is I can see the idea behind what they are trying to do tactically but I'm not convinced the personnel. To get what Rooney is trying to do to work I think we'd need at least one of Stearman or Davies replaced by someone who is good on the ball (ideally both), Shinnie dropped with Bird moving to the left DM slot and a right footed DM coming in, Forsyth needs to be replaced by someone who is faster and arguably so does Byrne, the right sided attacking player could do with being a left footer and a gooald threat and we need someone up front who looks to spin in behind (probably). It's possibly that if all the deals come through then it could all work out as something like the following I think could effectively deploy the tactics Rooney is trying to make work:
    Roos
    Ebosele/Byrne Jagielka Mengi Buchanan
    Bielik/Garner  Bird
    Sibley      Lawrence    Morrison
    Baldock/Stretton
Whether or not we see this and whether it's the best way to go about it is a different story, although tactically I do think there is merit if the right personnel are in place.

Ehh sort of, I think under normal circumstances he would get a lot shorter rope than normal given the almost disastrous end to last season and the otherwise mediocrity. For what it's worth the game against Peterborough didn't change my mind either way; I don't think he should be in post but I'm trying to keep an open mind given that he just isn't going to be sacked.
There have been some positive signs in my book in the pre-season and the first few games; I like that we are making more of an effort to control games, I think tactically there is some merit in how we are trying to set up (even if its currently floundering and I'm doubtful of personnel in places) and I like how we seem to be trying to introduce more techincal players. It's more positive than what I felt last season about Rooney.
However I think even this season (including pre-season) there have been a fair few questions that could be raised against the current management team.
We heavily focused on training and given pre-season game time to a raft of free agents and to an extent I think this is a decision that looks like it's backfired. That time could have been used to help develop a few of the academy players that we are going to have to call upon into players that can be called upon. There has been a heavy emphasis on building around Lawrence that whilst I somewhat get why is probably being done to an unecessary degree and I'm not convinced Lawrence has really showed previously that he can carry this. That is something that could still prove to pan out but I'm not convinced. To a large degree we still setup with the idea of keeping things tight initially, only looking to open a little in the latter stages of the game and playing to not lose first as opposed to playing to win. I think we see this in terms of selection, in terms of tactics and in terms of formation. Personally I think this kind of thinking is a little suspect and leads to the wrong mentality amongst the players especially given that defence is not even close to being watertight. You could argue that we should do this because the defence is weak but I think this is a flawed idea motivated by fear that just ends up leading to a lot of narrow losses and low scoring draws. This I feel is especially true given that I think no matter what we do we cannot get to a place were we will be absolutely rock solid and ultimately are likely to crack under pressure if we invite it. Mathematically speaking to a large extent its better to risk letting a few of them draws become losses if you can trade a few others for wins and narrow loss is just the same amount of points as a heavy one. It feels like beating a dead horse at this point but the lack of faith in Sibley is honestly just plain weird and I think it's connected to a couple points I've mentioned (along with a couple others you could probably argue) that all form a picture of the management team being very risk averse when it comes to match day. This was a major issue last season and seems to be rumbling into this one. With all that said none of the above or the games so far would be enough to call for a managers head. I'm more just pointing out that even if you consider the season in a vacuum (which I don't think is entirely reasonable) there are concerns to be had. None of this matters though because if he was going to get sacked under MM it'd have happened months ago.

Yep. The team was very young with only scholars on the bench. Foulkes (20), Cashin, Thompson, Wilson (19), and the rest 18 years old.
Brighton had Molumby, 22 years old with a season and a half of Championship football to his name playing most of the game.

Needs another season to develop physically. Next season he should be ready to step up and offer backup to Bielik, Bird and Knight in our midfield 2.
I love Cashin. One of those players like JBrown who you need in your team.
You also have to remember Solomon is 2 years younger.
Borkovic. Another who had injury troubles last season. I recall he was training with the first team last pre-season. Started that U18 season on fire with 2 and 3 assists in the first 2 games. Definitely one to watch out for.

Cashin would be LCB and Davies RCB.
Until we're out of embargo it'll be JBrown in the team instead anyway

Ignoring who else is in the defence, it would be Cashin. I'd stick with JBrown on the right and Cashin on the left though

I'd have liked Carroll but thats a bit melodramatic when we have Bird, Shinnie, Knight, Bielik, Morrison, Watson, Sibley, Lawrence, Hutchinson, Thompson, J Brown, etc for CM/AM positions.

That's fair enough. In reality I really don't expect Cashin would start exactly for the reason that you suggest but I do think it's getting close to the point where we perhaps have to consider sucking up losing one of those place (or unless I've missed something and Cashin literally cannot start).
As an aside forgetting about the embargo who do you think of the two them (Cashin/Brown) is closest to regularly starting ability wise ?

I’m not sure if it’s at all practical or if it’s even realistic to do because so many young players in a side can be catostrophic…..but if we just forgot the ages and played square pegs in square holes based on performances so far (inc pre season) I’d pick :-
                             Roos
    Festy.  Stearman.   Davis.    Forsyth.

               Morrison.            Bird.
    Sibley.         Lawrence.     Hutchinson.

                          Stretton.

subs : Allsop, Watson, Byrne, Shinnie, Williams, Brown, Jozwiak.
That’s harsh on Watson but I see him as a CM and I think Bird and Morrison have individually looked good in those roles. Also harsh on Shinnie but like I say this isn’t necessarily the most practical team just the one where individually I feel they’ve played best in those roles.

    Assuming Buchanan not fit yet.

Spent the majority of his 2 years in the U18s injured, much like WGP. A big year for both who have a bit of catching up to do
