Ghost of Clough got a reaction from norwichram in Match Thread: vs Blackpool (h)
A question at the fans forum was raised, asking Buxton and Hale if they think the U18/21 players ahold have been given more of an opportunity this season. The response being "they haven't done enough to convince Warne". They also stated Thomspon not being a top performer in the U21s, but stepping up seamlessly under Rooney.
None have played more than Robinson, who has only got 90 minutes vs a Wolves U21 side and hasn't played in any other game. The only player to feature in the League (Brown) has only got 13 minutes, I would be extremely surprised to see someone getting a chance this season.
Take that Wolves U21 game away, then you really see how willing Warne is to using them: Brown (30 mins), Radcliffe (11 mins) Weston (6 mins) and Fapetu (2 mins). It's pathetic.
They could have had a meaningful amount of minutes earlier in the season, even against the likes of Crewe or Bradford in Cup competitions, or when 2 goals up against Carlisle, Leyton Orient, and Bristol Rovers. If they were, we'd now have a better idea of whether they could step in for a couple of games. Even if they weren't ready, using them in more games would have helped keep our older players fresher, and potentially injury free.

That was because Wildsmith had plenty of time to claim that long ball. His starring position wasn't too far off where it bounced in the box. Instead, he backed off, forcing Cashin to deal woth it instead.

Ghost of Clough reacted to Foreveram in Summer transfer suggestion thread
Gateshead are in the semi final of the FA trophy against Macclesfield on the 6th of April.
The final is on the 11th of May.
I would imagine they would like to keep Brown for the final if they get through.

Ghost of Clough got a reaction from Carnero in Summer transfer suggestion thread
Matt Hale made a point which suggested our USP for academy players is opportunity. They're more likely to get game time with us than at a PL academy. I can't see Warne given them chances until our status in a division is confirmed (automatic promotion this season, or mathematically safe from relegation next season).
To be fair, it was similar under Clough, gave Huighes his debut early in the season (a couple of minutes in additional time), but then only gave him 20 minutes on the penultimate day of the season and first start on the last day. Hendrick was only given 4 sub apps at the end of the 10/11 season, before being a regular the next season. I hope we seal promotion early, so we can give Robinson the full 90 for Carlisle to prove himself. Maybe Brown too, since the National League season finishes before ours does (but only if the don't finish in the Playoffs)

Waghorn and Mendez-Laing starting the game in a 5212. Waghorn off in the 2nd half, with Washington and Blackett-Taylor seeing the game out in a 523. If we're a couple up, we could rest Mendez-Laing and play Sibley further forward.
Starting 11
Wildsmith
Nelson Forsyth Cashin
Ward Smith Hourihane Sibley
Adams
Waghorn Mendez-Laing
Finishers
Wildsmith
Nelson Forsyth Cashin
Wilson Thompson Adams Elder
Sibley Blackett-Taylor

Spot on.
Not sure why people want to play wingers either side of Waggy when we are playing with wing backs.
The whole point of wing backs os everyone else plays narrow to allow them space to move into.

It's a while ago but I was being ironic. He did a fantastic job on not much. Sacking him was ridiculous.

🤷♂️ It's not too different to what we did vs Bolton?
Adams went to AM when Gayle came off
Both wing backs were subbed.
Waghorn not fit enoguh for a full game, so will need to be subbed for Washington
Thompson came off the bench to play CM
The only real difference is not bringing Blackett-Taylor off the bench. He's played as a more traditional winger in the recent sub apps, despite us starting with our current version of a front 2.
