We need to save the players for the following match to ensure we don't win that one either.

Don't worry. Whatever the result, it won't be at all entertaining.

    Nope. Absolutely not.

I'm not sure I did. I said that Mel Morris trusted the wrong people and I stand by that. I am not sure the examples of Wigan, Wednesday and Bolton are especially good. They overspent and paid a high price. We have come very close. Are we to give Mel Morris credit for overspending and getting away with it? I am not going to do that.
Do I trust Mel Morris? I would leave him with my pint whilst I went for a slash. I'd let him babysit my kids. I would always believe he had the best interests of the club at heart. Trust? Yes. Free ride? No.
People on here have suggested that the owner can do what he likes because it's his money; others that Morris 'lived the dream' or some such stuff. I don't know if they are the same people that talk about 'our club' and that we will all be here long after this player or that manager etc has left. The two are antithetical.
As I suggested earlier in the thread, I am not self-obsessed or arrogant enough to believe that what I think will or should have any impact on the club but that isn't going to stop me from being concerned about what is happening at the moment or of being critical of the owner and the mistakes he has made. Backing a series of managers then sacking them, leaving the next fellow with players he couldn't use showed poor judgment, as I have already stated, along with other areas, that later meant that the club no longer owned its own ground, amongst other things.
I haven't said anything about winning the league or becoming the next Barcelona. That has come from your imagination.
I can't argue that it's not pathetic to think these things but that's because I don't recognise how it might apply.

You get less tolerant as you get older. Never been concerned about driving, if someone wants to get past then fine, let em go, I don't have to drive to work so its easy for me to give way when I'm only going somewhere for leisure, shopping, visiting family etc.
However, those that come up very quickly and very close behind me can absolutely duck off, I will slow down and hog the lane until they back off........their choice, ignorant bankers.

I am merely defending Mel when there is to my mind a certain tone from some posters that suggest he has been a bad owner.
considering the nature of this competition, the structure of the industry and what he has tried to do over the last 5 or so years then I dispute that in the strongest terms and will keep doing so.

'We have to be ready for what's in front of us'.
The problem is that what's in front of us is a team that's going to play their own way against a Derby team fixated on the opposition's tactics.
It's the approach of someone who has no faith in himself or his players. It's the approach of a coward, of failure.

I think fans can have a great deal of influence over how a football club is run. I also think Mel Morris is well aware of the influence of fans. That's why he did things like sit amongst fans at various times, invite members of this forum for PR breakfasts and so on. Why else would he visit this forum in the first place if it weren't to gauge the opinions of fans?
It's not white noise when fans start to get vocal about wanting a manager out. Why would it be at any other time? Fans call for this that and the other and the owner gets cheered for providing such things, even when it jeopardises the club's finances.

None of what you say here disproves poor judgment by Mel Morris. In fact you even admit as much. He trusted the wrong people - poor judgment; Money spent badly - poor judgment; panic buying - poor judgment etc.
Nobody doubts Mel Morris' dedication. It's quite possible to appreciate his effort and question the results at the same time.
