It's inevitable that it will be overused. Referees aren't going to make important decisions without recourse to VAR because they know the vile abuse that will come if they get something wrong. Look how it is overused for run outs in cricket - even if the batter is miles out, the umpires will have another look on the video.

Went and asked for it and they handed it over no questions asked. Fortunately, we didn't need it - the ambulance came and my colleague was fine eventually.
