Actually, after I posted, I realised I should have added... "Still, shouldn't be any harm done, now they have made a statement".
Certainly not damning them, merely questioning why they'd bother in the first place.

I think we've seen enough banter/joviality/"fun player videos" etc over recent years (I've lost count as to how many years we have been "there or thereabouts"!)
I see a little more determination and professionalism as a good thing, myself.  Gotta be worth a try, at least!

I want to believe in us. I want to believe that we'll see a stirring performance that kickstarts our season. I want to believe Cocu will deliver a tactical masterclass. I want to believe that we'll pull a performance out of the hat. I want to believe our luck will turn and we'll catch Leeds cold. On Friday, I made a prediction that we'd somehow beat Leeds and go on to win eight in a row. One win could lead to seven more - that is the kind of season-changing impact a win on Saturday could have.
But if you sit down and reasonably dissect this game, it appears that it couldn't have come at a worse time for us and the prediction I made looks positively King Lear-esque.
A stable Leeds is a dangerous Leeds. I don't blame anyone for fearing for us on Saturday, because they are everything we don't want to come up against right now. They are organised. They are supremely well drilled. They are aggressive. They play with confidence, commitment and desire. They dominate possession. They open teams up. They press and win back the ball well. They attack and defend as a unit. Their system is settled. Their style of play is settled. Every player knows their role and is trusted to perform it.
It is a genuine team, a team playing in the manager's image, with players entirely invested and on board with what the manager wants. It was frightening how quickly and how smoothly the Leeds players embraced Bielsa's philosophy just weeks into his tenure. We've all been waiting for the bubble to burst. But a year on, and they have kept the same manager, the same group of players, the same philosophy, and look stronger and more evolved for it.
We have gone in the complete opposite direction so far and I'm not sure we are settled enough to put in the determined, organised and crafty performance this game requires. If this game was in November, I think we would be competitive. But I think it'll probably be a case of too much, too soon for us. Cocu is still weeks away from figuring out his best eleven and then maybe months away from getting it to work effectively.
At Huddersfield, we were able to put in the classic away performance. At Brentford, we failed spectacularly. The signs are that this game is more likely to be a Brentford 2.0 rather than a Huddersfield 2.0. But the fact that this is pretty much a nailed-on home win will make any potentially positive result we get that much sweeter.
King Lear costume at the ready. 😂

Mucker1884 got a reaction from G STAR RAM in Cagliari racist abuse of Lukaku
I'm kinda with @G STAR RAM on this.
Of course, clubs should be responsible for anyone getting on to the pitch, and should have adequate security in place to ensure it doesn't happen, whether said interlopers attack other players/staff/refs/other fans etc, or simply run around (naked or clothed) acting the goat!
And of course, should anyone in the stands be heard/reported for using racist/offensive language, they (the club) should be seen to act accordingly, namely to ban said individuals.
But I'm not convinced clubs should be held responsible (by higher authorities) for mindless individuals who, to a point at least, are beyond the control of the respective club(s).
Anyone can shout something offensive (or throw something, for that matter) in an instance... any time, anywhere.  It cannot be stopped, but it can be subsequently punished (Individual banned from the stadium).
And where does the club's responsibility end?  The stands?  The concourse?  The stadium perimeter?  Local streets/stadium approach?  Town centre?  An hour either side of the start and finish of the game?  Same day as a game?
Remember, some (away) fans are in the locality the night before, in local hotels/hostelries.  Are the clubs still responsible for them then?
Fans should not be punished because fellow fans (of the same club) have broken laws (e.g. Club being made to play "behind closed doors").
Clubs should not be punished because fans of other clubs (in the same country/Football Association) have broken laws (e.g. See previous reference to all things Liverpudlian).
These people are breaking laws.  Let the law deal with it, whilst the club can undoubtedly do it's bit, by banning guilty individuals from their own stadiums/property.
When a club is punished, so are their law-abiding fans!

When a manager is a “dead man walking” you usually hear rumblings in the media, has anyone heard anything to suggest Cocu is?
Some fans are more trigger happy than owners, the ink is barely dry on a 4 year deal, to start this nonsense already is ridiculous.
Sky were saying on Friday that Rooney talks with Cocu after every game, does that sound like a player forced upon the manager? Why are we always on the look out for some kind of drama, attempting to manufacture some when boredom kicks in.

Sorry to hear this John... but I can’t say it came as a complete surprise!  From the snippets I’ve read (I “came in late” and haven’t read every word of this thread) your whole family has had a hell of a lot to contend with, so one of you getting to such a desperate stage, and making such a grim decision is “almost understandable”.
What Josh did is not something I have ever considered doing myself, but I do have experience of going through what you have, as a father.
My youngest boy also attempted such an ending 3 years ago, albeit at an older age (early 30s) and for different reasons (which I most certainly won’t go into detail on these pages, suffice to say it all related to being involved in Afghanistan, and the horrors of being “Up close and personal” with modern day warfare!”
Fortunately, my son’s attempt also “failed”, and I’m naturally chuffed to say he’s now well on the road to recovery (after excellent work by the respective experts, and a good dose of family unity) having now taken a different direction in life, and currently lapping up the bachelor lifestyle on the Cornish coast building boats!  It’s fair to say that it appears he’s currently happier than Larry!
As a father, I daren’t ever say it’s a happy ending, as there’s always a casting glance to check he’s ok, and there’s always the element of worry, (as there always is with our own kids) but after 7 years since “the trigger”, and only 3 since it all came to light (with his attempt to take his own life), things are certainly looking up.
I appreciate your (family’s) problems are still very much present, and not past, so there may well still be a long and winding road to trudge along, and you’re gonna have to keep a keen eye on all your brood, (but you don’t need me to tell you that!)
But there is hope. Things can and do get better, even if at times, things appear utterly hopeless. I also fully appreciate that, at times, it feels like we, as fathers, feel like complete failures!  That’s not the case, of course, but even we can have doubts at such trying times!
First and foremost, I wish young Joel the best of health, and a final “All clear” on his illness. The sooner the better. Secondly, I wish Josh the strength and courage to help his brother through it all, whilst staying strong in himself.
Finally, and probably most qualified of all, I wish you and Lynne, as ever-worrying parents, the patience, strength, and determination to hold things together, keeping the family strong and together as one.
I truly believe that that alone is the key to facing and overcoming these demons. Family bonds are stronger than they can sometimes appear!
All the best, buddy... stay strong, and don’t let go of that hope!

To the two “angry face” reactions to my last photo... if I may...
This was our first ever visit to anything bull ring related, and I include a lack of shopping trips to Birmingham in that statement.  It was a “reasonably entertaining evening” without proving to be amazing in any way.
It was on the northern edge of the Basque region, in The Landes, France.
There was no mention of the word “Fighting”, be that in print, verbally, or in reality.
Yes, it’s a circus. Yes it includes animals. And yes, there is an element of teasing/taunting of the beast, so any accusations of cruelty could remain valid by some, I guess.
I can only assume it is comparable to keeping wild animals in captivity (Zoo, wildlife park, aquarium etc).  Perhaps on a par with “swimming with dolphins” or taking a racehorse “over the sticks” in a steeplechase?  Maybe camel racing?  Or many other forms of “entertainment” that involves live animals, around the globe?
The “official” humans involved appeared to be acrobats, adept at dodging any “attack”, but then also the members of the audience who took part in a 10 a side football match (with the bull playing the part of a certain out-of-control Mr S Attwell!) also managed to comfortably avoid a goring, as did the half a dozen under 12’s who also braved the arena.
We appeared to be the only two adults in the arena, who were not accompanied by children!
Feel free to continue to remain “angry”, if that so be your desire.
