The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to BuckTaylor64 in Trouble ahead?
The meeting of EFL clubs next week in Nottingham will see Middlesbrough Owner Steve Gibson pushing for investigations into the finances of Derby County, Aston Villa and Sheffield Wednesday.
He is basically implying that the three clubs are bending the rules to apply to profitability and sustainability rules which replaced Financial Fair Play.
If the clubs are in breach they could face one or more of the following sanctions.
a) Points deduction of up to 12 points.
b) A large fine
c) Banned from competing in the play-offs
d) Banned from being promoted
e) Transfer Embargo
Whatever the outcome, I think it's fair to say that rules will be tightened to prevent a repeat of owners selling themselves the ground.
Derby County are in a financial mess. Ignore those who are praising Mel Morris's claimed genius actions, the fact are!
a) The club is suffering heavy losses financially.
b) The wage bill need cutting by at least 70%
c) The club now has very few assets to offer interested parties that may want to invest or buy the club. Unless the Stadium was sold back for a nominal fee.
d) The manager will have tied hands and it will take some real magic in wheeling and dealing in the transfer market to keep us competing in the division.
e) If the owner were to sell it's likely that he would have to write off much of the money that has been loaned to the club.
f) Prospective buyers could sit and wait until there is a danger of the club going into administration before making an offer.
All in all the team needs promotion and the riches of the Premier League, if we are allowed to even take part in the play offs after next weeks meeting.

I don’t know. But you’re wasting your time if you stop to consider any other possibility than the club have lied, been dishonest or disingenuous.
Despite posting about the Supporters Meeting at the end of the month several times, not one has taken the opportunity to submit a question to the club which if supported will be put to them.
I can understand the frustration, but it can also be frustrating reading posts which have either not listened to the forum back, have no intention of watching, accept they may have misheard whilst demanding maximum transparency from the club.
If I was the club reading this I would think what is the point, they don’t listen, they don’t trust us, they won’t even accept that some details may need to remain private for several reasons.
Attack, attack, attack. (We could do with a few of you on the pitch tomorrow!)
If anything I think the club have been too transparent at times and this has led to the need to know every little detail, I don’t recall the club previously every 3 months meeting with fans holding open Q&A’s, I don’t recall them meeting with Supporters Groups, inviting fans from forums to the training ground. I don’t see many other clubs doing this either.
Don’t even realise how lucky we are.
Years ago if we sold the stadium the first we would know about it would be on the front page of the Telegraph or Radio Derby news bulletin, now we expect the lease contract to be read out to a couple hundred fans prior to an official announcement on the club site.
Don’t get me wrong I would also be interested to know what the rent is, how many years is the lease for, do we have a buy back option or first refusal, is there clauses that get triggered on promotion, but I realise that this level of information may need to remain private. I get that, accept it and have trust in our owner which some have chosen not to have.
Out if interest has any other club that lease their ground openly disclosed the details of the contract? Or does the payment terms simply come out through fans/media looking at the submitted accounts on Companies House?
Either way there will be another fans forum in 3 months, where we will have the same fans proudly puffing their chests out announcing (several times) they are above the PR, you can’t brainwash me, refuse tickets, not ask questions, and then sit here for days after complaining about what does or doesn’t come out.
If I sound a bit arsey I’m not, never been happier, the sun is shining, we have a game tomorrow, Lampard is at the wheel and Mason Mount is back in the team. It’s just we go through the same cycle and it’s almost laughable at this stage now. I’m sure I’ll get a bit of stick for this one, I can even predict who will be whacking me, but there you go.
I need to go and get the decking jet washed for the weekend as it needs staining now, so apologies if I’m not on to go round in circles rehashing what has already been said ad nauseam.

Dear Ticket Office,
Each year I renew my senior season ticket on line and and a week later you ask me to email proof of age, please advise if it is possible that someone could deduce I am a year older than the last time I sent you the proof.

Potential ones I'm not sure. I could guess like you have though if you like.
As for the real-world benefits, devoid of guesswork and supposition, well apart from the staving off of any FFP concerns, a £39 million profit on PP and the chance for us to further strengthen the squad this summer when we might not have been able to before, there's nothing I can think of.
Perhaps I'm just too trusting, who knows?

Thanks everyone for the updates. I don't know why some are cynical about these events; fans get to ask what they want and get some answers.
I find them both informative and entertaining and great to get some first hand comments from the management team.
Well done , DCFC!

And it's hard to pick against him imho at the moment with so many others being inconsistent.
He'll be the first player since it's inception in 1968-69 to win it three times.
No matter what you think of him, that's a pretty impressive achievement.

The bugle sounding the charge.
"Once more into the breach dear friends"
Men have gone to their certain deaths in a headlong charge ever since, well forever. Motivated by nothing more that the encouragement of their leaders and peers.
They would have gone nowhere if there wasn't a battle cry.
100% motivation works. You might not win every time but you'll go down fighting with the adulation of the multitude ringing in your ears.
The fans can be the extra 10% to push us into the play-offs this season. I have no doubt that's what won it for us against Wigan.
We can make a difference.

Of course, booing, moaning, getting on peoples backs will effect any one in any walk of life, yes @RoyMac5 even football players.
If someone were on your back, you would want to stick 2 fingers up at them and not perform.
It is only human to protect yourself and if you are constantly booed every time you make one mistake when passing forward, you are going to play safe.
When you play safe the boo boys get on your back even more and your confidence drops, which to me any way seems to have been the case over and over again.
I also stick by my earlier post about certain people moaning that we will implode in the new year so early in the season will also have some effect on the team.
IT IS CALLED HUMAN NATURE.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to curb in Who is Frank on about here then?
So you don’t think it has any effect on the players?
An example for that is Chris Martin, scored 20 goals a season for three seasons then gets slagged off in his first lean spell so much that he shouted duck off to the S.S. when he eventually scored a penalty.
Have a think about Tom Lawrence getting abuse this season when he gives the ball away trying to make things happen, then makes a gesture to the crowd when he scored. Do you not think they’re affected by the abuse they get? Then all of a sudden we stop playing that risky free flowing football and pass it square across the back for 90 minutes. Is that not the effect of the abuse they get when we lose the ball trying to play football?
Even if you disagree with the two paragraphs above, we’ve tried moaning at the players for four years, would it hurt so much to try getting behind them for once like we did on Tuesday.
As a football fan there’s not much you can do to change a game, you just stand/sit there and take whatever happens on the pitch. You may as well try getting behind them and see what happens. It’s much more enjoyable than moaning for 90 minutes.
A smile is is better than a frown.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to curb in Who is Frank on about here then?
It’s not a minor issue when it affects our season year after year. I’d much rather he addresses it and tries to change it than bury his head in the sand and pretend it isn’t happening. Of course the atmosphere around the club when we lose a game affects the players, you only have to see the reaction of the players to the fan’s backing on Tuesday night to realise it has a direct impact.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to LB_DCFC in Who is Frank on about here then?
I do not consider my view superior to other fan's views in any way whatsoever. I'd suggest that actually by suggesting your view is more 'realistic' that the opposite is occurring. Do I think some negative reaction to recent events have been rash? Yes. Do I believe that Your view is more realistic than mine? No, and neither do I think my view is more correct . The reality is we don't know what the future holds for us with Frank, and those with reservations could end up being entirely right. However, I believe that you can still have an optimistic outlook on things overall and be critical of the present, without going over the top. I'm not going to say that what we saw in the 5 games previous to tuesday were any good because that would be an outright lie, but I look at the wider context, not only at our football club but others up and down the country, and remain satisfied with our position. I cannot see anything that suggests any element of Happy Clapping in that, really.
Also, what does 'my Ilk' mean anyway? A fan that want's the best for his club? Because that is all I am. If I disagree with you, that doesn't mean I think you're not entitled to holding that opinion. People misconstrue disagreement for rejection.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to LeedsCityRam in Who is Frank on about here then?
I've no issue with Lampard venting if he feels these people are poisoning the atmosphere of the club behind the scenes. Lest we forget, Cloughie sacked a couple of tea ladies in his first season at Derby after he caught them sniggering after a home defeat. Sometimes a club's culture needs to change - I hope Morris backs him 100% on this.
He's also made veiled comments about some of our support this year but has been fulsome in praise when we've stepped up & backed the team strongly - last night being a prime example. I think he's dealt with it well.
Whilst he doesn't look quite as suave & serene as earlier in the season, its perhaps not surprising when you consider that a) he's got a 6 month baby at home (I know exactly how knackered he's likely to be - mine is only a few weeks older) & b) he's not likely to be managing for money but to test himself. Therefore he's going to find (relative) failure difficult to accept having been such a success as a player. I don't think its anything to be concerned about, the man's got drive & we can only benefit from that long term.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to BondJovi in Who is Frank on about here then?
Using it for his own ends? Different managers, different players, yet same outcome. Happened to far more experienced managers than Lampard. But no, let's not miss a chance to have a dig at him. I don't think he has at any point not said we have been poor or this and that. I for one applaud him for taking this stance, can't be easy to do, if it is people within the club.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to Gisby in Who is Frank on about here then?
And all this ...... why shouldn’t he come out and say what needs to be said. He’s our manager and he’s tasked to get results, if that means sorting things out that are hindering him achieve his goals then good on him for calling these people out. Let’s not kid ourselves he’s not at DCFC for the money, he’s an ambitious man looking to go places with his managerial career, he should be free to say what he wants and clear out those that are getting in his way. If this benefits our club and he takes us with him along the way then I’m all for it. Sitting on hands & saying nothing has clearly not worked in the past, it’s time for a change. Get on board or move on.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to LB_DCFC in Who is Frank on about here then?
Or he's being completely honest about problems he sees with the club, problems that have been ever-present for a few years now? This is a bloke who's been in extremely high pressure situations as a player, in champions league final penalty shootouts, and also as a person in terms of media and fan scrutiny, especially as a 17 year old at West Ham, playing for england etc. I'm sure he's coping fine.
Also, I don't understand where you get this perception that fans who generally have more of a positive mindset and don't jump onto negativity immediately are looking at things through rose-tinted specs. Rose-tinted would be saying that saturdays performance wasn't that bad, when in reality I didn't see one person react in that way at all. Rose-tinted specs would be fans saying that Frank's doing brilliantly when in fact most that are accused say hes doing an decent/good job considering context. Because I don't go 'here we go again' and 'all the players are crap' after a couple of losses does that make me a happy clapper? Genuinely interested what constitutes being a happy clapper.
I don't think the comments were aimed at local media anyway, it seems to me something a bit deeper than that. At least the words used are very strong, something I wouldn't consider being used for just local media. And good on him trying to instigate change where he sees fit. If something's holding the club back in one way or another, why not try? Better than disregarding it completely.
The Scarlet Pimpernel reacted to Alpha in Who is Frank on about here then?
Well they are absolutely nothing like me or anyone I go with.
I don't get me knickers in a twist at every opponent attack. I don't say "We keep giving the ball away" after 1 bad pass in 15. I don't cry about a referee decision that I think looked dubious from my view 70 yards away.
Like @LazloW. I often hear their analasys and wonder what game they were watching. They're big cry babies and Ramage could witness 10 Derby chances to 1 opponent chance and he'll make it sound like we are in deep trouble.
