I think it’s a bit of both, but it’s exposed by poor game management. I think for the last few games it’s probably been the issue, but last night really showed it. We’d win the ball and Wilson or NML were running into blind alleys where they were doubled up on. Bird and Hourihane were passing 10 yards ahead of a man trying to make things happen quick rather than holding onto the ball and maybe trying to make Reading chase. There is room for that in Warneball despite what people think. We were predictable in what we wanted to do and erratic with how we did it because we had no way of slowing the game down.
We miss Nyambe, I think that’s the big one and most obvious. We didn’t look poor against Peterborough whereas in the games since we haven’t been anywhere near as convincing. Nyambe has a bit of composure and can find himself in space with the ball. Smith is another one who i think right now we miss. Yes hes a bit of a sideways passer and not the most exciting but we probably need a someone who is steady right now and isnt going to lose the ball with a wayward pass. o

Not many IMO. Think some are overreacting. We’ve not be scintillating but we’ve not been bad, good in patches of games rather than full games. Burton for example we were decent until we let them back in.
But last night was so bad don’t think it’s evidence of a trend, it has its own category. That’s more my point.

I think the real test for Warne now is that he needs to start getting performances from Sibley, Ward, Fornah and a few others that you’d deem to be on the edges of the first team.
Warne has done a great job in the first half of being able to have one or two players who for a few games together are in form before they are marked out of games or get an injury etc. NML and Collins had done it just before this slump, Waghorn did it early season, Hourihane and Bird had there moments, Barkhuizen, Smith arguably to. But these fringe players need to step up now and provide a different option from th bench and force themselves into the first team. Especially someone for that no. 10 role as no one seems to want it

That performance has probably been coming. Collins and NML are running on empty and we can only try the same things over and over.
My feeling is we are desperate for a Plan B, thst small change in shape and personnel when needed. Problem is Warne has a lot of what we’d consider to be decent players, but very few he can rely on.

It’s probably also worry mentioning, even if it’s a little unpopular because of the Wilson love in, but we’ve missed Nyambe so much these last few weeks.
For the criticism him and Smith get for maybe not being the most exciting players I think ‘Warneball’ or whatever we call this does need players who are comfortable on the ball even if it slows the game down because the other option is a lot more erratic. I don’t think we’ve had any real control of a game since Nyambe went to AFCON

Fwiw it looks like Radio Derby have been at Moor Farm today and Dom hasn’t tweeted any snippets  from Warne and they haven’t released the audio yet. This means my guess is there will be something to announce before 6pm or at least Dom will have some form of update he can say by then

Been thinking about this since Monday, but I think the Burton game felt like the most disappointed I’ve been in a Paul Warne side. I think I’m wrong with thinking this really but I really wanted a statement win, a good showing on the telly when we’d have a few eyes on us and I don’t think we delivered on that. I think that’s maybe from the armchair perspective I have on things more nowerdays though.
I just felt we were complacent as a club on Monday and I think Warne maybe needs to control that better? What I mean is I listened to pretty much all of Radio Derbys pre and post match coverage and the feeling I got was everyone they spoke to and themselves expected it to be a foregone conclusion that Derby would win. It reminded me sometimes of those days and nights that you’d walk in PP and you could sense in the ground an apathy around the place and you’d end up with a frustrating, poor game. I can’t quite explain why that was, sometimes you go in and sense you were in for a good game too.
I think we are getting to a really important part of the season and we can say this and that about performances and Warne’s style of play, but everything is in our hands and we need to maintain that we are picking up more points than the rest. League One football maybe isn’t about possession and nice football but about gambling on things that won’t come off 9 times out of 10. You rarely get time in the ball so the ball needs to be constantly moving. Mistakes will happen, but it’s maybe not worth the ‘oh maybe Elder isn’t up to this’ and ‘We need Wildsmith back’. Warne’s has rarely made a wrong decision overall this season, there has to be some acceptance that he knows what he is doing. I think if we want to get out of this league, we need to play the game what is presented. Maybe the players and Warne are doing that and it’s time for the rest of us to get on board. Fwiw, the radio Derby coverage has been a breath of fresh air since Gibbo’s return but I do think as a collective there’s a lot of over analysing stuff which then trickles down into the fanbase. It’s excellent radio, but I’m not sure it helps the mentality of the fans. Not that I want happy clapping either btw.
I was thinking about the Rosenior vs Warne stuff too today, and I have have no doubt that Rosenior would produce better football. I just don’t think it’d work in this league. Warne has set us up to go away from home and pick up points that are at difficult grounds. It works enough at PP but it sacrifices the shape of the midfield two.

TL:DR I think it’s just time to enjoy everything and see what happens? It’s going to be chaos but just accept it for what it is and I think we will come out of it on the right side. I’ve kinda scattergunned this post but couldn’t be bothered writing in a load of different threads so here’s everything I think about the club atm.

Hugill, great goal but did absolutely nothing else. Paterson rolled the dice with 30 mins to play, much like Warne did against Peterborough after 45. It works for a bit, but it gives the opposition chance to counter what you did. Peterborough did it the other day a lad that’s what Derby did on Monday. Substitutions and when the right time to do them is vital. It gave Burton a short boost but over 90 mins it probably weakened them.

I don't think Seddon was all that. He was very lucky not to have got booked first half and that would have made him play more cautiously, imo.
Like a lot of players, they have their best games against Derby at Pride Park. Big game, big occasion for them.
Hugill, though, will have class, he's from Man United's academy. See how he likes it when he's being manhandled at Stevenage, but we gave him room to play. He's bound to appreciate that.

My presumption is to be able to use the excuse about going over a threshold you’d have to show that you are some way down the line with getting the deal done. Thats similar to how it would work in the real world I think when it comes to accounting (I’m not an expert on that).
To enter negotiations after the cut off date and getting a deal done and thinking you’d get away with it doesn’t really hold up. Having a constant dialogue with the Prem is one thing, what you are telling them is another and my guess is they are just answering whatever you put to them and nothing else. Was the same with us under Morris and the EFL.

TBH, whoever at the club thinks that is a tenable excuse needs banning from football, for exactly the reason you state.
I do remember allot of their fans screaming that we should be accepting any old bid for our players in order to meet our obligations, so they surely can't be supporting the club's argument or that would be very hypocritical. £35m wasn't a p-take offer and they knew they needed the sale to meet FFP.

If you get chance to, and I hope they put it all on rams daily, but I think Radio Derby just had a great discussion since full time and it’s well worth a listen. Lots on the transfer window, where the club is at in terms of transfers, the performance tonight and what it says about the depth of the squad. Good post match interviews with Warne and Sonny Bradley too
