He will always be our hero.

But here we are: a 60% chance of staying in this godforsaken league for at least another season. And as each year goes by, our club’s stock falls lower.

And even when we get back to the championship, is DC the man to lead us to the PL? Nope. Portsmouth, owned by a Disney billionaire, have a good chance of getting there. And they’ll be competing with other clubs owned by billionaires, some flying high on parachute payments. Truth is, Ryan Reynolds is more likely than us to see his team in the PL any time soon. (Or is it Netflix’s team?)

DC needs NOW to employ a smart well-connected agent to prepare a detailed proposal for a sale and to quietly and selectively market it to football mad billionaires across the globe. With middling PL clubs now going for 100s of millions, many might fancy a roll of the dice with us.

If he does that successfully,  he will go from hero to superhero. If he does not, many of us -  including him - might not see our team in the top flight ever again.

Clearly you were always going to get those who like to jump on comments such as yours. They will always think that if you are not running things as seems to be happening at the moment, the alternative must be that you are being reckless with spending.

I will be delighted if DC sells up so long as his company gets there money back and we end up with a proper board, not a fan with no industry experience running the club.

We need a structure for the long term and I don’t believe we have that at the current time.

We are in league 3 as the result of an owner that ran the club like a fan with a strategy of sacking managers weeks after giving them millions to spend in a transfer window, to bring in a different manager with a different philosophy.

Ironic really and wouldn't surprise me if those now referring to statistics are the ones that have been advocating for him to be sacked 🤨

I agree, fans don’t make good owners. Particularly if they don’t have a board with good experience of the game.
We shouldn't keep changing managers, it is the initial selection and appointment of the manager and his immediate staff that is key.

It’s boring football because it’s a ‘boring’ league. The lack of real quality means the ball spends a lot of time in the air.

However, we wouldn’t be calling it boring if we had someone up front or running from midfield who could put away some of the crosses put in by Wilson, NML and Co.

The fact they are headed or hoofed away leaves the spectator disgruntled.

I don’t find that it is a particularly boring league, some clubs try to play football. The ball is in the air a lot because we put it there. Why put in endless crosses and lumps forward if we don’t have the type of forward to take advantage. How many times did we give the ball away last night through 2 or 3 passes and pump it forward to the opposition to play with.
The fact that we won does not in my opinion mean that I should be satisfied with our football.
A lovely cross on the ground by NML for JJ to tap in.
    #keep it on the grass.

But, has has been mentioned before, if we’d spent a million on “a few good players” (I’m not sure how many such players we would have got for a million) we would have to have spent the money spice - firstly in transfer fees and then again in wages. I’m sure most players that meet that criteria would have demanded a decent pay packet.

I suspect that you are right. Maybe they will have a special ‘Black Friday’ window in the future. 50% off and low wages for 3 months.

And there in lies the issue with a proportion of deluded Derby fans....

Less than 18 months from going under, working to a tight business plan to demonstrate we won't make the same mistakes, so let's just spend a million to strengthen the team..........

    Give your head a wobble

The money was spent, but on wages for short-term free transfers. I am no fan of Warne and delighted that he has seemingly abandoned his tedious tactics, and realised that passing to each other on the grass is the way to success.

We have all given Collins stick at some time or another but 5 goals in 2 games shows his character. Some of those 5 have been from close range but could he be the 25 goal striker we all want to see ?

I don't particularly care where he scores them from or against who. I am impressed that he was between the posts to score the two tap ins and the brilliant headed goal. I will be delighted if he ends up with 18-20 let alone 25.

    It's a tick box exercise.

I'm not saying she isn't good enough and won't go on to have a great career,  but rushing people through before they are ready results in people like Atwell.

She stands out as being the best referee  we have had by a distance. I am pleased to see her progress. To say it is a tick box exercise is strange.

And sorry, I might have missed this as have not spent time on here recently, but when did Cashin become the new hate figure?  Ridiculous.

I wouldn't think he has, that would be daft. Bradley did bring some calmness to the defence which was good. He also played excellent passes into midfield which was a positive.

The good thing is that assuming that Cashin goes in January, there is more comfort in playing Bradley after his dodgy start. The bad thing is that Mr Warne thinks that he can he can play three centre backs again and we are back to square one.

  10. Excellent performance, passing on the grass to each other, retaining possession instead of a percentage lump forward, crosses with pace instead of a looping effort to nowhere, varying the way we attacked and a forward playing like a forward.

I hope that the penny has dropped with our management that we don’t need to worry so much about what other teams do. The players were enjoying the way we were playing; it was entertaining and positive.

You'd have to be a sandwich short of a picnic to invest in a 3rd tier football club, Even a club our size with a possible 30k + attendance every other week, Lets say DC wants to get rid of a 49% stake in the club...that's around £25m, DC still controls the club and the decisions made within, An investor wants a return, That return will only come about with promotion to the EPL.

DC keeps his man...PW...would you want to give him a budget in January, PW missed the boat last January when not finding a centre forward he admitted this was a mistake.

Unless there's a sugar daddy out there that's got so much loot in their back pocket hidden from the Tax Man...DC is on his own while PW is his man...imo

The last thing I would want to do is invest in a club with Clowes still with controlling stake. Nobody would be that daft. Not so sure about a valuation of £50m either.

  12. I am grateful for him stepping in for his company to buy the club. I think the time has come for him to sell at least a controlling share to bring in new investment. In football terms he hasn’t made good decisions and is holding the club back. In long or even medium term, fans rarely make good owners, that has certainly been the case at Derby.
The potential of the club is a great opportunity for investors to get a good return, particularly if we can get back to the Premier. I would hope that feelers are being put out for potential buyers / investors. I doubt it though, but if that was the case, we may as well hang on to our inept manager & his coaching team until a new owner gets shot if them.

Why was employing Warne a shocking decision? He had 3 promotions from this division on his cv?

Why was turfing Rosenior out a shocking decision? He had us sat 7th place and playing football that was boring alot of the fans.

Followed rapidly by relegation. His football has never been attractive.
Rosenior had us playing football (on the grass stuff). I was never bored by it. Warnes non football keep giving the ball to the opposition bores and frustrates me. It is an offence to football.
He is not building for the future, and with his record of relegations he never has done.
    Everyone to their own eh!
