Because at the moment you have two sensors in a line, and a very close line (width of a finger nail) - see picture one, no technology is going to be smart enough and today the sensor might be onside but the finger nail is offside. If you then have sensors - for example in the front of the shirt, and your requirement is completely offside you are looking for a single individual to be further forward than any other player (or all but one, by the strict rules of offside). If the onus is on a player having to be offside, whereas now it is on them having to be onside, you introduce more 'forgiveness' to the rule - innocent till proven guilty and all that. The ref ultimately decides what 'clearly' means - for me it means there must be grass between the attacker and the defender if you draw a line across. It's not perfect, nothing is, but it is a much, much, much more accomodating interpretation than the one that exists today. You'll all thank me one day.

Won't that give forwards with big buttocks an advantage? 🙂

But if it was Cashin, that Brighton bought him and loaned him back, would you change your tune? Cashin's attitude since the move fell through has been exemplary.

If we had have sold Cashin to Brighton I would have thought exactly the same. His attitude has been exemplary, he didn't go anywhere. Different situation. I have no issue with him leaving, he wants to play at a higher level, let him go and play there to be fair to him.

Mate you need to stop teams running through our midfield.

Call it a strong midfielder or holding midfielder it’s the same difference.

Conner and Max doesn’t work together but they are both good players and it’s like Lampard and Gerrard scenario

If Adam Bolder thinks it would make a difference then it will make a difference.

We need a player like him or John Eustace or George Thorne

We get run through our midfield because there is a massive gap there. It is the way that the manager sets the team up for whatever reason.

For the same reason, our defensive players frequently end up playing a long ball (aka giving the ball away to the opposition).

It is frustrating for many fans and I would hazard a guess, the players too.

Possession stats alone over the last 3 matches clearly show this not to be the case.

On their own they mean nothing. Give me a genuine stat for how many times we lose the ball. Or, give me a stat that counts the number of consecutive passes moving forwards. By forwards, I mean the end result being further up the pitch, so passing back within the movement is fine, so long as we don't carelessly and lazily give possession away needlessly.

  6. I don’t like him as a manager, I don’t like the way that his football is often being played, resulting in us continually giving the ball to the opposition to play with; it drives me nuts.

When we play football and retain possession, we are a much better side. We are capable of that but we don’t see it enough.

I am not critical of him taking the job, but tactically he is outdone by others too many times. I am baffled by the decision of our sole owner to offer the job to him.

  8. I would like to think that the coaching and scouting departments attach some 'what if' to their planned tactics. In that, we will play this formation and team because we believe we will win, but 'what if' it doesn't work either because of player form or because the opposition have changed how they normally play, what do we do then? Last night I saw changes but nothing particularly impactful. All I saw was not for the first time this season, Derby being out-footballed (the stuff where you pass to your own teammates) by a supposedly inferior team.

Maybe the players didn't attach any importance to the game (I didn't), and if it had been a league game things may have been different.

Might have been better outcome if the defence had shown more composure, and when attackin, players looked up instead of just running until they lost the ball.
