I found this thread on page 2, which I guess is a fair indicator of how the war sits in the consciousness of people at the moment. But hang on folks! I get a sense that, with Russia resurgent thanks largely to its support from China and Iran in the provision of weapons, Putin "could" soon turn his attention to a former Soviet state with a population opposed to its government seeking to introduce a "Russian-style" agent-of-foreign influence law. The parallels with Ukraine 2014 are uncomfortably close, and the comments of the Kremlin spokesman in this article have a familiar ring to them. Look out for social media posts alleging oppression of Russian minorities in Georgia in due course. I hope I'm just being paranoid.
Didn't they give Georgia a kicking a few years ago whilst we all tutted and watched on?

Here are my stats that I also hope you trust, as I too have worked hard on them.
Teams that accumulate more points than 22 other sides in their division over the period of 46 games get promotion in the English football pyramid 100% of the time.*
*Stats based on a sample of over 120 years of competitive football where sides are ranked based on points-based performance.
Apart from Wycombe.......😉

Glad Portsmouth have gone up, if Southampton (who admittedly are going well) don't go up that'll be a nice local derby to have on TV. They deserve it.
As far as Bolton fans are concerned, yes I think like all clubs there are some who really should not be advocating for their club. I also think that they went on a decent run, a run that ultimately sowed the seeds of a cramped fixture list, dropped points, and hopefully their downfall; but during this run a few of their fans suffered from hubris and got over excited about their sides quality (think us pre-Feb in a Steve Mac season). Claims of "the best team in L1" have only been matched by claims that "Evatt is a numpty", let's see them join us though. Get a Bolton, Burnley, Blackburn mix to go with Pompey/Soton and Derby/Notts.
Pompey v Southampton makes our derby games v Forest look like a teddy bears picnic.

They were each complimentary about him (they were unconnected individuals) but consistent in their views that his best days were passed and his injuries had both slowed him down and made him less prepared to "go in where it hurts".
Anyone who refers to Luton as a "great football club" surely needs their critical faculties challenging?
-
I know 2 Luton fans, both of whom said
- thanks for taking him, and
- can't play in a 3 as too slow when he gets pulled out of position.
Seems to have been a mixed bag. Probably ok when we're at home, on the front foot and not much actual defending to do. Otherwise, not so impressive.

We played good football at times under Warne and usually it has been built around the better players we have had. If we sign 3-4 players with the ability of a Bird or the flair and vision of a McGoldrick, why can’t we go up and play a brand of football that is pleasing to the manager and the fans?
It'll depend on whether there are enough "good eggs" who play decent football because they're the only sort of chaps PW wants in the dressing room.
Those names weren't Warne signings and I know there's debate around whether or not Paul Warne prioritises athleticism over technical ability but the one thing he has publicly stated is being of "the right character".
He'd never have put up with a Besty or a Rodney Marsh.....

I think the time to have this discussion is over the summer. The time to be worried is mid-August if we haven't bought anyone in.
Imagine what we would say about Forest Fans if they were in this position talking about next season.
Surely if Forest were talking now about how they'll get on in the championship next season we'd be complimentary about their realism.......😉

Wasn't going to do it but was awake early, so I thought I would compile a list of the experts from yesterday...
Did you have any opinion on the lineup before the game or, like me, didn't you check it out until the match was underway?

On the game.....
Excellent response and result. I had us down for what I thought was an optimistic 3-1 but after the disappointment of Wednesday, this was a good effort from all, including PW.
The folks were happy with the performance so sounds ok.

So you think we are more of a technical side under Warne than a physical one?
At League One level we simply have better players than the rest. Yet largely we still don’t dominate possession and play through teams.
That’s not a bad thing. Warne will get us promoted this season, no doubts, and he deserves credit for that.
But claiming his style of play is more technical than physical is just laughable.
I agree with this analysis. What I don't know is how far an athletic but not technically gifted team can go.
We remember the likes of Wimbledon and stoke but if truth be told, I'd rather we didn't use those as the blueprint.

Great result and warne gets to keep his job for another week 😜
thought we were faster quicker and more aggressive in our play than them.
tommo and adams were excellent… sibley and wilson who looked so bad as make shift full backs against wycombe (yep i said it roy 😉) looked much more at home with license to push on knowing they had a 3 behind them.
glad we got the goals we did as despite all our very encouraging situations there was still a bit of lack of quality from open play in the final thrid, but hey.. clean sheet, 3 goals and weve got it all to lose again (lord help us 😂😂)
I don't think the full backs were the problem against Wycombe. Giving up centre midfield and carp finishing did the job.....

Well done on your win and putting things back in your own hands. I thought we were fortunate at times today, for some reason our early goal seemed to send us in to our shell; Bolton have some decent footballers, who exploited that for the rest of the first half and we were lucky not to go in behind. Second half a bit more even.
All the best for the run in - as I've said elsewhere I'm hoping we'll both end up in the automatic slots now; but I do think you're probably at the stage where you can't afford any slip ups in the last couple of games.
I've just poured a large glass of red. Enjoy your evenings, Rams.
Rather be in your position tbh but hey ho. My boy's at Pompey University so I know the place and like Derby it's a one team city so a successful team will do wonders for the area.
Enjoy your promotion lads👍
