Small world. One of my good pals is one of the Clee Ultras you describe - 350 mile round trip on a Tuesday night away at Ashington? He's there
Went with him to watch them couple of weeks back v Winterton (they won 2-0) & been to Linden Club a couple of times too - nice little ground. My pal can't stand Grimsby Borough so was obviously outraged on Easter Monday when they got clattered 3-0

They are in the FA Trophy final not the Vase.
If anyone is thinking of going you get two games for the price of one with the Vase and then the Trophy played on the same day.
I went to the 2017 finals when my nephew was playing for Cleethorpes town v Southshields in the Vase with Julio Arca playing for them.
A crowd of over 38,000 with Darren England refereeing.
I haven’t seen any details yet for this year, but last year the price was £25 for adults and £10 concessions.

I miss chatting to Dan at away games and think of him often. He would be loving this run in, no wobbles for him! We'd discuss tactics in the concourse pre-game, how many we'll win by and possible goalscorers over a cuppa (me) and a pie and a pint (Dan) with much enthusiasm.
I take my photocard of Daniel to every game, and feel he is still with us, willing us on.

I've read through your comments, some of your points are valid and I can understand where you've come from and some are a little outdated.
In the past and under Gareth Ainsworth, we were the masters of the dark arts and I'll be the first to admit that the football was sometimes very horrible to watch but he did guide us to our most successful period which causes a lot of our fans to ignore our style of play. However, this season has been a change under Matt Bloomfield. He has been willing to move away from the slow game and look to try and get some more "flow" into our game. Hopefully those at the game and watching at home might see a bit of difference. This change has been more noticeable since Jan Transfer Window when we brought in new players. I think it's safe to say that Stevenage and Northampton have looked at the dark-arts this season and have mild moments of success with it.
With regards to our game at Wembley on Sunday, one big thing that changed our style of play was the pitch size. We have a habit of sitting back and hitting teams on the counter on the bigger / wider pitches. However, when we play at home, our pitch is on the smaller side of the measurements which allows us to play with a little bit more pace and our game plan changes. Yes, Peterborough had an awful lot of the ball at Wembley but for a long periods of time, all they did was move it from side to side looking for a gap. As someone mentioned, they had 70% possession, managed only 1 more shot on target that Wycombe and only won it with a wind-assisted cross.
It looks like tonight will be a really interesting fixture. We have 4 "fresh" players coming into the side as they were cup-tied from Sunday's game and several of the players are looking to improve on their performance from Sunday (Please note that I haven't mentioned that I thought we played well on Sunday - we didn't!). You guys looking threating and I've watched several of your highlights and think that you'll ask several questions of our defence. You will be fresher than us after having a nice 9 day break without a game so that does make us nervous too. It will all be decided on the pitch in the 90 minutes.
    Good luck!

That's interesting and I do wonder why that appears to be so for a lot of people.
I found the administration very worrying, and I suppose I've just been celebrating us having a team to support ever since.
I also know that very few teams "succeed" in the strict definition of getting promoted/winning something, so there are a lot more teams who are losers than there are winners.

Off to Wycombe shortly , feeling confident we will be coming back with the points , the last two performances against Blackpool and Portsmouth have shown me that the lads have a steely determination to get the job done, tonight won’t be pretty but it’s all about the result
Safe trip down to all fellow Rams fans and let’s roar the lads on to a vital win  COYR

Let's just smash these jobbers. Tin pot nonsense club that have taken up too much of our attention over the last few seasons. Just batter them and leave them where they are. Our natural level is far beyond theirs, let's get that rectified.

There is a very stark and real difference between being able to forge a career in the Championship and being an impactful player in the Championship. A LOT of fairly unremarkable players have made careers in the Championship, so I actually don't have too many worries about a lot of our players' ability to hold their own at the next level.
In terms of impactful players at the Championship, well that's a very different story. I would be confident in Mendez-Laing and Cashin. If Nelson was an import from overseas, who had never played in the Championship, then I would also say him. I do worry that he's been unremarkable in the Championship, largely, so would consider it unlikely he's going to carry the same impact at the next level. Adams, too, has found it tough by all accounts. He's in a similar boat to Nelson in the sense he's been very good for us at this level but has struggled to make the step up. I guess you could also put Nyambe in this category too, albeit he has previously done very well at Championship level with Blackburn.
Blackett-Taylor is starting to show his ability and looks to have good speed, range and technical ability that should serve him well at the next level. He does seem to lack the power of a NML but he has potential to be impactful at the next level if he progresses. Wilson, Sibley are probably more along the lines of being able to play in the Championship, perhaps struggle to be as impactful.
I do worry about Waghorn, Collins, Smith, Bradley and I'd probably add Elder to the list as players who I think would actually struggle to step up. All of them look to be on the down-swing of their career, in-terms of mobility, Collins has done well for us this season but I think a better class of defender really limits his impact. Waghorn started the season well, but looks laboured since his return from injury. Elder and Bradley just haven't looked right since we signed them, honestly, both have had moments but big question marks over them two - as well as Smith.
If we do get promoted, the recruitment is going to have to be very strong. Central midfield and strikers, in particular, will need to be improved upon enormously.

The conclusion that can be drawn from watching overperforming teams end up in the PL (Burnley, Norwich etc, the so called "yo yo" teams, prime example probably being West Brom) is that the momentum to be gained from having players who all know each other's games very well can take a club a long way.  In the last decade we have had quite a few examples of teams that have been promoted from League 1 (or even League 2, Bournemouth as the classic example) and then from the Championship and into the PL within a few years afterwards with pretty much the same players (Ipswich this season for example).
That, however, is often when things come unstuck.  It's also a proven fact that newly promoted teams have had to dig deep financially to strengthen in the PL or go straight back down.  This season, for example, Luton and Forest have spent big (too big in Forest's case) and are in with a chance of staying up, whereas Sheff Utd and Burnley have not and look destined for the drop.  In 2007-8 we most definitely fell into this category, and we all saw the results of trying to stay in the PL on the cheap.  It simply can't be done.
Our more experienced players probably could cut it in the Championship, but by the time we went up again (if we did) they would have retired.
The younger bunch (Cashin etc) are a mixed bag, but again I would trust them to compete in the Championship, at least initially.
Ergo, the first season in the Championship would be a period of transition.
Apart from the administration and the embarrassment of being in League 1 for 2 seasons, perhaps the biggest setback has been having to sell so many good players (Bird and Knight to name but 2), whereas had we stayed in the Championship they might still be here.

Top half champ teams don’t usually have grade A players in all positions. Good solid pro’s who know their jobs can do an excellent job supporting a small core of top talent.

Very hard to call potential to play in the Prem given we're still a 3rd tier club & the absolute chasm in class. That said, players can surprise with making the step up - Bournemouth's first promotion team & Swansea both contained players from their League One (and League Two) promotion teams. Believe Pelly Mpanzu for Luton has played for them from Conference all the way to the Prem too.
I'd be confident that Cashin & Blackett-Taylor could make the grade as regulars in a top half Championship side. I suspect Ward & Sibley would also be effective but only in certain positions - Ward as a wide midfielder/right wing back given the quality of his delivery & Sibley as a left wing back with his direct style & game changing ability. I'm struggling thereafter although Mendez-Laing would still cause problems in the division above as would Gayle.
Of the remainder, I'm sure players like Nelson, Forsyth, Korey Smith, Elder, Barkhuizen, Thompson & Wilson could do a job as bottom half Championship players but feel unlikely to develop beyond that due to age or lack of physique/technical class to offset that. Both Wildsmith & Vickers would also be competent at the level above but again nothing more. The biggest holes in potential we have are in central midfield & up front - losing Max Bird was a massive blow as he would definitely fit into a top 10 Championship side & we desperately need a similar type conductor of play. Can't quite make my mind up about Ebou Adams - obviously not our player anyway but whilst he looks a million dollars in League One, I suspect the technical demands of the top half of Championship would blunt his effectiveness. I also think we have a batch of forwards who would barely reach bottom half Championship standard (with exception of Gayle)
In short, a lot of work needed in the summer to inject some youthful potential to the squad & a bit of class in midfield/forward areas. The club also need to be strong in buying promising players from lower divisions/foreign leagues with potential to improve & resale value rather than older players with 'Championship experience' and no resale potential. My instinct is Warne would prefer the latter but the former would equip us better to develop into a top half Championship team in a couple of seasons & achieve sustainability as a club.

What am I reading? I know we've all been through some right bottle jobs following Derby, but come on.
    Barnsley ruled themselves out yesterday.
Peterborough have a horrifc run of games in 21 days and rely on a high energy game.
Bolton really struggled to beat a poor Bristol Rovers team and haven't taken any more points than us over the last 5 games - and we've had to navigate Portsmouth, Blackpool, and Bolton themselves in that time.
Wycombe are playing a final this evening....beat them and it leaves 2 home games and Cambridge away.
Honestly, I can see us winning the next 2, and Bolton drawing against Portsmouth, and it all being all being effectively over. Only 6 days to wait.

If we cannot take all 3 pts off those teams whilst in poll position for the autos then we don't deserve to go up.
Let's put Wycombe to the sword and put more pressure on Bolton!

I just boil it back down to the fact that we'd much rather be in our position than Bolton's or Peterborough's.
We know for a fact that 4 wins from here and we're up regardless of anything they do.
We also have softer fixtures on paper than either of them, with Bolton having Pompey & Peterborough, and Peterborough having Bolton to play and 7 games 21 days.
We'd have gladly taken this position at most points of the season if offered.
    C'mon Derby, final push.

Same so do I and they will. Thing I like about us this season is how well we respond to adversity. There is a steel about them. We’ve had to s******** recent games largely due to our injury situation (which is as bad as anyones in the league for all Bolton’s bleating), but I thought we were really good against Pompey and I can see a return to the excellent performances of Bristol Vale and Reading for the last 4 games. If we play like we did against Pompey in the remaining fixtures we’ll get this done, no doubt in my mind.
