Just checked Paddy Power and Hull are 11/4 to win.
Keiftenbeld is 18/1 to score first, if youve got any spare cash then this maybe worth a cheeky tenner

    Good thread this.
Ive been a member for a number of years but only post on rare occasions. Been an on off season ticket holder since I was 16 and suffered for the last 10 years.
I sit in the south west stand in the corner that has gets lots of fans who come once in a blue moon and feel they can vent their frustration at the team and players when you know they haven't seen the team play week in week out. Same on here, so much moaning and player bashing for people who may or may not go to games. The Johnny Russell bashing is astonishing!! One part time fan jumped up and rained fire on Russell when he got subbed. Once a hero now a vilian?
Im 44 now and have seen many highs and lows in football over the years and all its changes. The last few years i have missed more games through work and when ive been fortunate to leave at 1pm on a match day with a 20 mile drive to get home and then rush to get to the match takes its toll. There has been times when ive sat down and the match has passed me by.
Real life gets in my way of being active on forums. I enjoy the banter of those season ticket holders around me and would miss not being there. I can never understand how people have the time to keep up with posting regularly on here, especially with all the moaning.
Im not one of those fans who live and die for match day. Sometimes im not sure who we are playing from one week to the next. I do though love going to watch my team play and the hubbub surrounding me while im there. Ill talk about it on the way home or either listen to radio derby. I might watch goals on five and thats it till next time.
If you have an internet forum you are going to have people who wait to make a pun, have a go at another, abuse a player, roll up with a light hearted remark, those who take immediate offence at a remark directed at them and those like me who read more than they post. Thats just the times we live in and it should all be taken with a pinch of salt. All of you should either concerntrate on what really matters in life, wife, kids, family, work or school.
Id miss this place if it wasn't here...but then it wouldn't be the place it is if it wasn't for the list above.

People saying we have enough already make me laugh. If we want to challenge for promotion we need to sign 1-2 more players before the window shuts. we need a strong and pacey striker and a tricky goal scoring wide player. In my opinion Weimann nor Russell or Bennett are starting 11 players, Maybe in lesser teams they would be. With Vydra now looking like he is going to be GR's plans for the season i can see him hitting 10+ goals this year. With the addition of Lawrence we have a tricky, creative and goal scoring player, But we cant depend on him to get the majority of our goals. If we got a player like Jota in and played him along side Vydra and Lawrence i believe we would have enough to go up, with Russell and Weimann on the bench we would have some decent impact subs. Nugent would be my choice over Martin purely because he looks a threat and works alot harder. But i would like a pacey and powerful striker like Dicko or Afobe. Which the acquisitions we have made so far 3/4 really bolster our defending attributes, which pretty much has buggered us for the last 3/4 seasons. I think with 2 more positive signings we could win the league if we remain consistent.

Word from someone with good sources at the club is that the Ince deal is done and he's gone. Presumably that's to Huddersfield, though I don't know that for sure.
Sorry if this has already been reported. Struggling to get online recently so haven't read the 120+ pages.
Probably going to be announced over the weekend. We will miss his goals. I always liked him but felt he was so hampered by not trusting his right foot and didn't contribute as much as I felt he was capable of. But often a joy to watch.

    Tin hat at the ready.....
Having been present for the majority of Ince's home games, i feel i can comment on his form and effect to the team.
Although he has scored some cracking goals and provided assists along the way....there's just something about Ince that just doesn't excite me. He is no Ted McMinn.
He works hard for the team when he loses thr ball but for me he could do so much more. The opposition expect a lot from Ince but i just dont feel he dominates games as he should.
Like the majority of this team, they would all be playing at a higher level if they were all consistant. At Ince's age he has peaked for me and even if he does go i dont think he will cut it in the prem.
Dont get me wrong i will be glad if he stays as most have said in this current market it will be hard to replace him.
But....... There has to be the players out there that Rowett has identified that will fit the teams structure better than Ince. A young hard working lad who wants to get better.
Lets all be honest Ince will not perform well in a team with Wisdom at right back....we have seen it before.
For me Ince's best position is the number 10 roll. I used to drive the chap who sits next to me mad calling for him to play there. Then he was dropped into that roll for 3 games and fluffed his lines.
You can argue all day long about the players around him but i just think if there is a decent offer over 12 mil then that money can be used to rebuild.
I expected that both Hughes and Ince would be gone before the start of the season. Im not overly dissapointed by this....something needs to change. Theres also no chance in the world that our fringe players will command any type of fee over 5mil so even if we lost 5 i doubt it will be enough to rebuild, although im sure we would save a huge amount of wages.
    Just saying 😆

I can't help but feel people think this is a bigger loss than it is. I know us fans are fond of hughsey but has he really been that great recently. Is he really gonna be a massive loss? I really don't think so. There's a reason the interest from the big clubs came and went.

I know Will has been a favourite. To be honest he has not found his form since injury. All this lambasting of MM and Gary Rowett is pathetic at this point. I bet you will all be screaming their praises next season if we go up. So give them until Christmas at least. If Will has gone I wish him all the best.

I think you're ignoring the situation we find ourselves in - we've overpaid for average players (money we'll almost certainly struggle to recoup) and we're up against the buffers of FFP (if reports are to be believed). If Rowett wants to overhaul the squad (as he's intimated), we may have to sell Ince or Hughes (or both of them) to give him the room to manoeuvre. That's not a case of wanting to sell, but possibly having to.
I'd love us to keep Ince & Hughes and for Mel to splurge another £50M on players to fit around them - but we simply can't do that - and we also don't know whether Rowett sees his team playing with those sort of players - as has been suggested, he may want a more workman-like side in which case, they may both be considered luxuries...

He was a right pest when away teams stayed. He would just be asking if everything was alright all the time, sometimes pestering them for autographs etc. He was a real pain in the ar!e anyway and would get under all our skins. He just became a real creep to some guests. He really latched on to fergie that day for some reason and was his shadow all morning before the match. Fergie eventually had enough and told him direct to his face to "p!ss off" which was a beautifull moment. After this Man u never stayed again.

I remember this one very well. I was working as a barman at the "La Gondola" restaurant on ossie road. We used to have a lot of good links with the club and i remember one time (not sure if it was a midweek game or Saturday) Roy Mac came in for a meal with Tim Sherwood. I was shocked at the time and never realised we had been linked with him. A few days later he signed for Blackburn. No one ever believed me, nice to know my story has been backed up. I also worked at Breadsall Priory and was at reception when Kinkladze checked in, again not been linked with him and i remember a few of us getting very excited on the day. Have lots of good stories of when the teams came to stay before games. Great place to work for a fan back in the day. That was until our conceirge p!sses Alex Ferguson right off and not long after that the away teams all went to stay at Mickleover Court instead. Great memories

I'm ok with the players being upset that their mates have been sold, it's natural, you build up relationships on and off the pitch and when your bro is taken away from you you're going to feel down but that's football.
I'm not ok with players calling it a shambles and being disgusted, when you read Jeff Hendrick wooing the Burnley press with I've been waiting for a bid, wished it was done sooner, too good for the Championship now he's had a decent Euro's. Throw in the performances on the pitch that have been a shambles and disgusting, you can blame tactics but I'm not buying into the idea that these players are only suited to 4-3-3, they are professional footballers that have played under several managers and systems.
They have a new manager and it takes time to adapt, fully expected but from midfield forward I can't think of anyone that has really stood out this season, theres a distinct lack of interest and feeling that we're watching pre season games, building up fitness, not good enough, it wasn't good enough under Clough, Clement or Wassall either.
Truth is this squad has seen off far too managers and I don't want to call them failures but the prime objective promotion we've failed at, it would be no surprise to me if certain players wanted out like Hendrick and this "may" have rocked the boat behind closed doors, the whole Martin deal is puzzling and the only thing I can think of is he wasn't happy either and wanted out.
I'm not bloodthirsty at all, just thirsty to see players on the pitch giving it their all and not sulking around. If they're not aboard the Derby Premiership train jump off at the next stop. I would have loved Hendrick and Martin to be part of this, really doesn't feel right seeing our Jeffrey hold up a Burnley shirt and I cried a little inside when I saw his Twitter bio change to that backwards town up North, but let's get players in that want to take this club forward and choo choo on and if that means more of this core group leaving then so be it.
Anya looks like he will be a breathe of fresh air, seems hugely religious so hopefully he will go in to the dressing room on Monday and remind the squad what it says in the bible about forgiveness.......I'm not exactly sure what it says but I bet it's good and I'm all up for forgiving the players, blanking out the last 5 games and starting the season at Newcastle/

For the last ******* time we are not "replacing" Martin because we don't ******* need to!! ******* hell!
We are no longer playing around Martin because it's a weak, 1-dimensional system that's great when it works but without him or if he's off form then we can't play any other way. He is no longer the focal point of our football.
If you insist on a "replacement" then we've just bought Vydra so there you go.

Pearson obviously sees the Martin role as redundant so why does he need replacing.
We have already brought 2 strikers to the club in Wilson and Vydra, do we really need more?
How about recouping some of the cash that we wasted last season and let's see how NP does with the still bloated squad that we have assembled?

It seems clear it's a different type of striker that Pearson wants, and as such, £10m is a decent price for him.
He's not bad, he's not become bad (other than form), but if he's no longer "the right" striker, onwards and all the best.
Last season, incoming players were mostly good or at least alright players, but not the right players for what we needed.
I'm sad to see him go, but can see it being best all round in the long run.
