How long before we get Clement has lost the dressing room, I wonder.
They bloody well should be unhappy, none of them are playing particularly well and one or two have competition for their places that they haven't had for a while.  Good.
It wasn't so long ago that there was moaning because we couldn't buy a win during the run in because we couldn't defend; that we weren't sure that the 'Yanks' were really one of us; that we wanted investment; and pace up front. Now it's that the team spirit has disappeared and we're 11 individuals (or 30); that not having a pre-match huddle is some sinister representative of a dressing room in crisis or a lack of leadership even though it's probably the players' choice.  These are pretty much the same individuals that have almost the best goals for and against record in the division, that currently lie third and have lost 4 league matches all season. Bolton fans would quite like to be in our position.
Every team in every league almost every year (Arsenal excepted in one season only) have a bad run of results.  Welcome to ours.  It might just end on Monday night, or the following Friday or even the Saturday after that.  But it will end.

Two fantastic pieces of football tonight - one, a tackle from Warnock in the last 5 minutes which stopped one of their players from almost certainly scoring and the second a full stretch tip onto and round the post from Granty - I was right in line with the shot and how Granty managed to get to it in a crowded area was little short of incredible

I don't agree Ramnut.  He did change the system, to 442 in the second half when it was clear that whatever was said at half time wasn't changing things; he brought two subs on and, I think, probably held back on a third because of the knock that Keogh got which nearly led to him coming off; I saw plenty of agitation from him on the touchline during the match and a fair amount of shouting
When to support the players and when to give a public dressing down is a hard call for a manager, but the level of performance tonight was so low that had he tried to find the 'positives' (apart from a point gained) - in that time honoured, meaningless and essentially dishonest sporting phrase - everyone would have laughed him out of the city. He was honest and we know he was right. The players also know he was right and they need to respond on Saturday.

I might be worried were it not for the fact that our CEO and Finance Director have indicated that we have room to manoeuvre on FFP, that gates and other income are clearly up year on year, that our owner is a fan and loaded and that we are clearly well managed off the pitch, starting from a strong base.
If we were to go up this season then the spending in the summer will be relatively small change.  If we don't go up then my view is that the current feel good factor will continue for at least another season, if not longer.  And we are buying/have bought players that under any reasonable expectation meet the basic Sam and Mel requirement - that they are good investments.  In other words we are likely to be able to sell them on for more money than we paid should we have to. The risk therefore is a sensible one.

I've looked it up now. Signed at the end of 1976 by Colin Murphy and sold to West Ham by Docherty (probably the only sensible decision he made) in 1977. Played 30 times in all competitions and scored 7 goals.

Nothing to do with them being puppets - the true answer could be anything on a range from 'not good enough' to 'others are ahead of him at the moment', but whatever it is they'll never publish it while he's here and rightly so. It's not our business and not for Clement to allow the reasons to be published.

So, seriously, what's the question, Rob:
SD isn't playing Paul, why's that?
Well Owen/Gibbo, because other players are doing better than him; because he's still affected by the death of his mum and he's been going back and forth to the Caribbean too much so he's hardly been here; because he's not training as well as we would like him to; because he missed a lot of pre-season due to international duty; because he's just not quite good enough or consistent enough on the evidence of what I have seen so far; because he doesn't fit the system I want to play and we'll move him on as soon as we can.
and how motivating to Simon Dawkins would any of those answers be (if indeed the real reason is somewhere in there), however much they might satisfy our morbid curiosity to know the ins and outs of every player's situation?
My bet would be that both Dawkins and Clement know exactly why he's not being picked.  I would also hazard a guess that Radio Derby and/or Gibbo have quietly asked, just as they've asked in a roundabout way why Pearce hasn't played - Keogh and Shackell have done well enough to stay in - and are probably quietly respecting some confidences.  That's good enough for me

I presume he's referring to the village of Ilkley which I have great knowledge of.  Ilkley is a spa town and civil parish in the City of Bradford, West Yorkshire, in Northern England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Ilkley civil parish includes the adjacent village of Ben Rhydding and is a ward within the metropolitan borough of Bradford. Approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of Bradford and 17 miles (27 km) northwest of Leeds, the town lies mainly on the south bank of the River Wharfe in Wharfedale, one of the Yorkshire Dales.

Not saying I'm a photographer yet Lincoln, but I take 15,000 photos every year - landscape/portraits and anything that looks interesting. I have a Canon 5D which also does video. Some advice/questions:
What do you want to do and achieve photographically? If you think that you are likely to want to develop your skills and what you photograph then I would go down the DSLR route so that you can later buy different lenses and different 'bodies' as finance allows.  If you are wanting to do landscape/nature and get better at what you do then you probably will want access to a range of lenses eventually. If you think that you 'just' want a decent camera that takes some consistently good shots but not get into it too much as a hobby then you can find some really good cameras at relatively cheap prices that aren't DSLRs
Think ahead - if you buy a DSLR you will probably stay with the brand you first choose forever because lenses and bodies tend not to be interchangeable between brands and you get used to a way of working. So be comfortable with what you choose - go into a shop and handle the kit and see if it's intuitive for you, even if you later buy online.
Get the best lenses you can afford - it's the 'glass' that makes the best pictures (once you take the photographer out of the equation)
There are lots of magazines and websites that offer advice and comparisons.  I've found them really useful - I read Practical Photography every month and it's good for ideas, comparisons and critiques of other people's photographs and it also covers camera equipment
Have a budget and try to stick to it.  As with any hobby you can spend whatever you like (or don't like). Online tends to be cheaper as with many things
I have used this site to buy online and found them really good, and cheaper than many: http://www.hdewcameras.co.uk
I also print the photographs I want out of those I take, so if you want to do that it's worth thinking about your computer at some point - I have an iMac and a canon printer.  The iMac allows me to improve/alter the photos I take (but not 'photoshop' them).  But you can also take the memory card to Boots or Jessops. Some people just keep their photos on their computers.  Again it depends what you think you might want to do with the photos you take.
Hope that helps. It's a hobby I really enjoy between matches......
