They will be more affordable the more popular they get . Like anything really. The government are supplementing them at the moment . But it's a whole new way of thinking , nothing convential about it really . On the hybrid ( which will take off more than a full Electric vehicle due to its flexibility) there's no starter motor or alternator , no auxiliary drive belts a transmission like you've never witnessed. Plans are in place for euro 7 diesel emmisons but that will probably be the start of the end , we really can't get them any cleaner . SCR (selective cataytic reductant ) systems are the last straw imo. The van world is now going onto PHEV pairing an electric motor ( which can charge from the mains , through the electric motor itself or through kinetic energy) with a petrol engine .
