West Ham United and Derby County in battle to sign Dundee midfielder James Cowan in January

West Ham United and Derby County have both sent scouts up to Dundee in recent weeks.

According to a report in the Daily Mail, West HamUnited and Derby County are both interested in signing Dundee prospect James Cowan.

Cowan has caught the eye with his performances in Dundee’s under-21 side this season.

The midfielder appears to be a top talent, and West Ham and Derby have both been scouting him in recent weeks.

Cowan only signed a professional contract with Dundee in June, but his reputation has quickly increased.

Dundee are said to be willing to cash in on Cowan, with a January move now possible.

Although Cowan would be unlikely to break straight in to West Ham’s or Derby’s first-teams, he would be signed in the hope that he could become a future star

he looks a bit Bruce Rioch in statue.... burly for an 18 year old - but might stiffen the midfield

Looks more like Ched Evans.
