It's in the Martin thread a while a back, but basically he said that Martin was cocky in the play off final whilst QPR were down to 10 men, and it was used as motivation by the QPR players. He also became a bit of a running joke in the dressing room, as did Derby.

Dyche said he never had any problems with Barton in his time at Burnley, nothing but praise. Yes he fell out with Warburton but has praised McClaren on many occasions, so there's clearly a mutual respect there. Steve also gave McClaren his only England cap. 

Personally, I'm torn. He's a prat. But offering him a chance to train over the international break, or train after, seems fair to me. And see how he gets on. 

I just read on Twitter that Barton was once sent off for a head butt on our very own Bradley, , tbh I wouldn't want anything damaging his excellent form.

i trust Steve to bolster the squad in any way he sees fit.  If dramatically increasing the midfield thug factor is required, signing Barton would certainly do it.

To be fair after the play-off defeat he was surprisingly magnanimous in the post match interview.

He could do a job for us for the rest of the season and be good cover for GT.

Real marmite time for me, as a person no thanks, as an experienced midfielder of some quality who can cover that 'Thorne role' then maybe but only if on a short term contract on affordable wages with a contract guaranteeing no social media comment from him in any format and absolutely perfect conduct within the club.

No immediate thoughts other than I've always seen 'leadership' as an excuse for when people can't quite understand what's going wrong. Our best 'leader' in recent years was Eustace and yet it was Thorne taking his place which took us to the next level.
