Ok, so I know hes not actually on the pitch but what does he do? Its not like we arent getting into decent positions, we had plenty against brentford we just cant score...when we have a shot the accuracy is shocking.

Seems like Kev is gonna become the latest public enemy number 1.

Lets boo him at the next home game.

Not at all, i think its fair to question his role though, especially as he is goal scoring coach and our record is the worst i can ever recall, even in the ill fated PL season we scored more than this.

I am looking forward to someone coming on here and finding anything positive. I can't, loved him as a player but his job is to coach the strikers.. Hmmmm

Good player yes...but if we had a fitness coach (another issue for us i think btw) and they all turned out like lardy homer simpsons surely his or her role would be questioned too.

Strikers shouldn't need a coach. It's one of those specialist positions where you either instinctively know what to do in any given situation or you don't.

Just my opinion having been one, albeit failing at the final hurdle to turn my YTS at Hull City into a pro contract.

Maybe I DID need coaching after all?

He doesnt just train vydra, he will be working with all the team on goal scoring...

We get in decent positions, we just cant score, lack of confidence, just put your laces through it and get it on target, our accuracy is shocking. Can you imagine a derby player scoring a goal like russells against forest in the 5-0 right now? not a chance it would end up halfway to bristol.

Why do Derby fans have a constant need to find one person to blame for all their woes?

Where has it been said by the club that all Phillips is tasked with is coaching the forwards?

Phillips is part of the coaching staff that's it. Just because he's as ex-forward it doesn't mean he's the man to blame for all of our striking woes, just like ex-defender Powell isn't solely to blame for defensive problems and ex-midfielder McClaren isn't solely to blame for midfield problems.

Pearson, Ranieiri, Clement, Pearson (again) and now McClaren have all deemed him worthy of a coaching role, on this basis I'd hazard to suggest that he contributes much more to the coaching team than telling our forwards to not score.

FFS.

and the strikers need to offer better movement to give the midfielders options. Let's just say both need to improve but we knew that already.

That's true mate.

As far as I can see his role is as scapegoat. If it means hysterical types pick on him rather than any of the players, then that might have some value.

I agree totally, the random scapegoating of our players or staff is counter productive....
