Your right it doesn't but it can give a bloody good idea and unlike people's opinions is totally objective. For instance, I hypothesise that part of the current tactical problem is that our strikers are not helping out the midfield enough and are not linking the play up well. I feel this is supported by the fact that despite us having superior possession and touches on the ball compared to Blackburn, Derby's forwards (Bent + Vydra) only managed 40 touches compared to that of Blackburn forwards (Emnes + Gallagher) who had 70 touches.

What this leads to is the ball being stifled in midfield because the Derby forwards are not offering an outlet, which in turns leads to our difficulty to break down opponents and means we are forced to shoot from distance or when there isn't a clear opening.
