Part 10 now up and ready to view. Last bet 14/04/07.

Talking about my Christmas and New Year..... usually a struggle for me with regards gambling. Also idea for trying to stop yourself gambling using debit/credit cards.

Also brief mention regarding bans on particular gambling..... which I can't bring myself to agree with.

My responsibility to stop myself from gambling. Not the bookies/sites/casinos.

Good to see you brave enough to do these youtube videos. I've experienced some problems with gambling and I've wasted so much money as a result of it. Deep down, I know that I'm never going to win regularly but I did it merely for the 'thrill' of it. The problem I faced was that when I did win, I ended up wasting more money in the hope that it was my lucky day and hoped I was on a winning streak. These problems have been less frequent the last few years or so but the other day I was feeling really down and I decided to blow quite a bit away. As I haven't really got the time to watch your videos and your story of how you're coping, would you mind giving me some written advice so how I can defeat the surge and buzz, especially on days where you feel low? Thanks and keep up the videos because I know exactly how it feels.

Thanks.

The main thing for me is to put barriers in place..... at start I gave fininacal control to my wife, just carried literally "pocket money" for the day.... perhaps 40/50p for coffe machine at work.

The big thing is the triangle of Time, Oppurtunity and Money, when all three of them come together I'm in trouble. So I have to break it. Money is easiest to break so won't carry card or make sure my wife has it if I'm feeling like having a gamble.... opportunity is pretty easy for me as I'm blocked from gambling sites and work, being a father and doing things revolving round my family takes most of the opportunity away.

Time is the hardest one though to control..... at start I had to replace what I was doing every day, day in day out. It was hard, so I decided to keep fit and start running..... got involved more heavily into GA and helping my lads teams out where necessary.

If you think you have a problem. Do the 20 questions on the gamblers anonymous website. Lots of stories and literature on their. Can honestly say GA saved my life. Not going to be everyone's cup of tea I admit.. but give them 90 days is all we ask.

Retention rate is not high though only 1 in 10 come back and be regular after 1st meet.

Just wanted to take time to share that I'm doing a vlog on my gambling addiction. Most of you are aware that I have a problem.

With the fantastic response I had on Twitter with my blog and coming out publicly, and with people asking to share more blog wise..... Thought it was time to make a video, hopefully it'll get through to just one person who might need help, and that'll make it worthwhile. My plan is to regularly update my story and how I am now. First video is my story. Enjoy

Was that you on the radio this morning? Very powerful stuff. Well done.
