Derby are poised to make an opening bid for the Scottish centre-half, 24. But Slavisa Jokanovic’s men are also keen as they look for more muscle in their side. We already made ourselves look daft by signing Pearce only to leave him sat in the reserves. Signing Hanley would only confirm that our transfer policy is made up on the hoof. If we wanted a younger centre half why weren't we chasing Hanley last summer instead of spending money on 31 year old Jason Shackell? How do we actually identify our transfer targets?
