TroyDyer
I had resigned myself to him leaving some time ago. Very very short sighted move on his part, but that's football sometimes. Nowt as queer as folk.
uttoxram75
Explains why Eric Steele was openly criticising certain decisions while chatting to some lads at St. George's Park yesterday.According to Eric, "too much time and effort was spent on getting that spanish lad" (Raul)......."should have signed a striker in January"......."won't go up unless we get Martin and Thorne back"......."too much emphasis on defence instead of attack - stronger on paper this season but more effective last"... Unusual for someone so involved to speak so openly to fans.

uttoxram75
Er, we did sign a striker in January. I am sure he's scored half a dozen or so goals since. And also Ince and Lingard. Hardly an emphasis on defence.Has the person you were speaking to been asleep all this time?

eddie
Smacks of Burley throwing the play-offs against Preston, But that was out of spite. This seems to be about confusion and bewilderment amongst the troops ?? Its getting to the stage that the predicted exit will be almost welcome .... As Leeds says there will be no shortage of takers and a new direction might be welcome ?

Unusual for someone so involved to speak so openly to fans. The striker comment does seem odd as we signed Bent January 2nd, not sure what a day early would have achieved unless Steele meant another striker in as well as Bent (too much time spent on Albentosa) which would also have been odd as we only play with one up top. With hindsight would have been handy but then you look at Buxton out for the season, not having Albentosa would have left us short at the back.Think most would agree we probably wouldn't go up without Martin, think we could survive without Thorne if we get Eustace back tho. ChaddesdenRam
A £60 million war chest and a stable premier league club with awesome fans and a great stadium would be hard to turn down.

Uptherams
Of course SM will leave at some point. But him leaving is not a good thing. No one wants him to go. Perhaps a couple of clowns you always get. But if SM had his current form at another club, especially Newcastle. Their fans would be going mental. Let's be clear, £60m is not a lot of money when you don't really know a club. You can easily spend the lot and completely waste it. SM could easily be given £30m to spend here when we go up. Ted McMinn Football Genius
Be disappointed if he did leave in the summer, thought he wanted to see the job through? But beware SM if the Toon Army don't want you there they will make your life a misery come rain or shine!!Ever heard of the phrase "better the devil you know......" Dimmu
I'll start worrying if Rush leaves. And I hope Mac stays but he is not irreplaceable.
JAT
I'd be gutted if he went but if he is lured away then it's best he does so before the start of next season, despite what league we are in.
Carl Sagan
A plain stupid rumour. Does no-one recall who owns Newcastle? A certain person who doesn't give a toss about them? So, all of a sudden he's about to give Mac £60m to build a team there? Utter, utter, utter, utter nonsense. As is plenty of other stuff in this thread... RobboRam
As mentioned by other posters, Sam Rush is more important than McClaren.Im not saying McClaren hasn't been brilliant, he has had a tremendous effect and I would rather he stayed However, it wouldn't be the end of the world as I trust Sam Rush to make correct decisions in finding a successor if needed along with making other important decisions required to achieve and sustain success for Derby County Football Club.
