RLACML
I just bled my radiator, but I can't tighten it back up for some reason and the water won't stop. What should/can I do? Will the water eventually run out?
RamNut
Surely there is a stop valve or a thermostatic radiator valve on the inlet or outlet that you can shut off?

Tombo
Yeah, Alpha's right, you want to run around screaming in circles and REALLY worry about it. That should do the trick.
Tombo
As for a serious answer, I have no idea mate. I don't have the testosterone levels to even attempt bleeding a radiator. You are a manlier man than I. Good luck.

RLACML
Never fear, the water has stopped. I'm not sure what the long term game plan is in terms of turning the heating back on but at least I'm no longer in immediate danger.

Boycie
Did you unscrew the little nipple (guffaw!) too far? Thee only turn it until watter comes out. If you turned it too far it's come out the thread. You need to try and push it in whilst turning. Is there a slot on the nipple (teehee) ? Newer one have a slot so you can use a screw driver to release or tighten them. You've probably lost pressure and your boiler won't work now if it's a combi. If you're in the area, and you want advice, pm me and we can have a talk about nipples (chuckle) in depth,

Do you suggest that I phone a plumber? I don't fancy my chances of following simple instructions to get it working again

Naturally, I didn't consider the possibility that it might not go smoothly.

Boycie
If it was a bleed key, you need to put something inside the keyhole so that the nipple doesn't go in to far. You need to get pressure behind the Nipple while screwing it in.

BondJovi
Once upon a time...I had the heating on for a while, noticed one radiator was cold. Got the old bleed key out and gave the nipple a good few twists. In my haste to get all the air out, I turned too far.. next thing I know the nipple has flown across the room and rather hot water is spraying all over me. I put on the thickest gloves I could and after some fiddling, the nipple slipped back in and all was right. Took me a while to clean up, especially the once white wall. At least I had warmed up though. I learnt a lot that night.
