Died yesterday age 75...

Think there may be some interesting news about him over the coming weeks...

Not until they are all dead - then suddenly they will finish the investigation after fining the final piece of evidence behind the fridge or down the back of the sofa.

He had terminal cancer.

On a totally unrelated note:

The child abuse enquiry may start properly now, after what seems like a lot of unnecessary and unfathomable delays. Almost as if they were somehow stalling for a reason

Tories have shelved it, will be buried under the election campaigning

It may be that he was guilty of abuse and if that's the case, then it's terrible. However, he wasn't found guilty of any crime and he isn't around now to defend himself. He does have grieving relatives and the stories reaching the gossip columns must be especially hurtful right now.

Ah, the 'Jimmy Savile defence'

That's a new one on me.

I understand your point but the allegations over him have been around since the 1980's so it won't come as a big surprise to his family.

Yes but whilst they remain allegations I guess we should reserve judgment. I'm also aware that bile and vitriol directed at offenders affects their families too, and i try to avoid it.

Innocent until proven dead as Al Murray has said

Jimmy Saville was a personal guest of her christmas do's at Chequers for 11 consecutive years - probably why he wasn;t investigated properly back then.

She was told about Cyril Smith yet still agreed to his knighthood.

Brittan, Keith Joseph, Rhodes Boyson  are all alleged to have been involved in paedophile activities, all were prominent members of Thatcher's cabinet....

Its possible she had an inkling. Its also possible that it was all covered up to protect her government from being brought down.
