What exactly is 'Plan B' ?

Switching to 4-4-2?

Play Bent and Martin up front?

Drop a central midfielder? If so who do you drop?

What happens to the CDM?

Everyone keeps talking about 'Plan B ' as if it is the magical solution to our ills.

While I agree that we need to be more flexible on tactics when it isn't working (Like Millwall, Wigan, Leeds, Middlesbrough, Forest), when people say we need a 'plan B', that could mean absolutely anything

Personally if 'Plan A' isn't working properly then we should make it work again, not abandon it. 4-3-3 with a DM has been our most successful formation in over 7 years, maybe more, we've been unlucky this season that the personnel for the formation have been inconsistent or injured. If we stick with it and sign the right players for the formation it will bear fruit again. If not then we don't have to change the formation, change the roles of some players, instead of having two attacking fullbacks maybe play Warnock instead of Forsyth etc....

What is your 'Plan B'?

If plan A isn't working you cabt always just say leys make it work. Insanity is to keep doing the sane thing expecting different results. If the opposition have dine something to stop our initial plan working then we need to change something

Plan B isn't just one thing. Its a phrase, or saying, meaning the idea and ability to spot why something isn't working and find a solution.

Until we have that we will not be consistent and I fear will miss out on automatics again.

Agree with you that we won't finish 1st or 2nd without consistenc, which we won't get with an unsettled defence and the fact we need at least 2 more first team signings. With Ibe gone and Bryson and Hendricks indifferent form we need a winger and centre mid.

I think McClaren was annoyed at the players for taking it upon themselves to abandon Plan A.

As i said.....

If you play two centre forwards - as we did - the keeper will be more tempted to kick long - as he did.

the substitution affects the tactics.

Stick to plan A and execute better. Forest's performance had nothing to do with the result yesterday.

We lose games because teams are better than us due to the low level of our performance and not the high level of theirs. That's what's so frustrating.

Don't understand your logic everything is relative

What I mean is do you think we lost to Leeds or Wigan because they're better than us or because we were extremely poor on the day? On our day we'd beat every side in this league in my opinion which is what makes losing more frustrating. When we lost to Leicester twice last season, they were a better side than us so losing was easier to take.

I know we're not going to win every game but it's just the fact that if we miss out on promotion by a few points it's going to be the games against the likes of Millwall and Leeds that we look back on and think "if only..."

Wigan and Leeds were both better than us on the day hence why we lost, to some degree ditto Forest yesterday.

I agree but I'm saying what makes the defeats annoying is because we were very poor. It was our lack of quality that meant they were better not necessarily their abundance of quality.

Really? Could have sworn they stepped up their game second half, opted for their plan B which was to tighten the midfield area and push Osborn on, won nearly every loose ball and 50/50 and scored 2 goals against us. Didn't that happen?

Yes agreed but not sure if you expect us to be capable of maintaining some nominal level of performance week in week out if we were then we'd be romping the league

Here's a question for you. What do you attribute as the main reason for the second half turn around? An improvement in Forest's performance or a downturn in ours?
