The January Window Transfer Suggestion Thread

Didn't know if I had permission or not to put this in here. Just seen other suggestion threads below so I hope this doesn't get deleted.

Personally only think we need:

Centre back

Replacement for Best

I like the look of Nathan Ake for a CB, can also play LB and CDM

James Wilson (preferably) or Isaiah Brown on loan please. Send Best back.

We have 4 centre backs already, why do we need another?

Whitbread is inconsistent and plays negative back passing football

Shotton is a utility player, yes he prefers centre back but he can also play RB and CDM, he's looked solid but Whitbread has been played ahead of him which suggests he isn't in that good form atm

Buxton concedes goals, directly or indirectly, I don't think it's any coincidence we had our clean sheet record while a Buxton wasn't playing, and now he's been playing again we've conceded 6 goals in 3 games and gone from 1st to 5th

Barker isn't coming back, we haven't replaced him like for like

Keogh is the best of the lot.

And we have the 3rd best defence in the league with those 4?

What's the point in signing another centre back in January (Who's most likely a Championship standard defender) only for him to be deemed not good enough if we get promoted?

I don't think it would do any harm to have another defender who offered as much as Barker did.

Keogh was a replacement for Shackell. If Barker had never been injured it would have been Keogh Barker by default. Since Barkers injury Buxton stepped up and proved himself to be a capable enough defender but he's certainly no Barker.

Or Isaac Hayden

So you've suggested 4 defenders we could go for

Ake - Played 10 senior games in his life

Hayden - Played 2 senior games in his life

Brooks - Was linked with Prem teams in the summer and I highly doubt we could afford him and still abide by FFP rules

Knoche - 1st team for Wolfsburg who are currently 2nd in the Bundesliga ... no chance

Ake and Hayden are highly rated, I think they'd offer more the Whitbread and could be equally as good as Shotton, games played is irrelevant if you consider some of the players we've signed on loan. I can't imagine Ibe has played more than 3 games for Liverpool, yet he's in our starting team, and Mascarell has only had one start for Real but he's in and around the first team.

Common sense. I'd expect players such as Ake that currently sit on the Chelsea bench are considered to be good and talented enough to potentially cover for players such as Cahill etc. I admit to a lesser degree Hayden but I've seen him play for England internationally (u19) and he's one of Arsenals best prospects in defense. If Mourihino thinks Ake is good enough for a spot of Chelsea's bench then that would most likely suggest he would cope playing in the championship.

I think I'd like some bite adding - the big difference between us a Leicester last year is that Leicester could out football teams like us and out fight teams like Millwall. We can out football most, if not all, teams but we get bullied too easily.

Martin is fine up front, but a younger Eustace who can put his foot in and a centre half who can do the same would be on my list. Shotten may be that person, I haven't seen enough of him really.

I'm not after route one hoof ball - I like our style, but as I said, sometimes we need to get in and do the mucky stuff.

Also i fear if we don't sign the right players in January and consequentially we don't go up fans will turn on the board for lack of investment/desire to strengthen. That won't happen hopefully. Whether we comply with FFP or not.

We've got one of them already

Hint: His name is referenced in someone elses username in this thread.

Hint 2: I quite like him

Hint 3: Most Derby fans quite like him.

Can you tell what it is yet? Any ideas who it might be?

Brilliant as I am, we need players who can make a difference now. Although saying that even thought I'm still doing rehab I can still outrun and last longer than Eustace over 90 minutes.
