Have you got a football mistress ?

For a short while I used to use National Express to get to home games. I was living about 70 miles from Derby at the time. Sometimes a Derby fan would get on the bus at the next stop. He was a bit simple. I know that would match a lot of our fans, especially some of those who post on this site, but this was in the early 1970s and the fan is probably dead now. He was in his 40s and his mother, who looked about 75, would get on the bus with him, have a word with the driver and then get off. After the bus got to Derby Bus Station around 12.00 he would make his own way to the game.

I forget what his pre-match routine was, but one Saturday I got a bit worried about him. The game against Leeds had been called off late because of frost and I was worried that he would be wandering around Derby all alone in the cold until the return bus departed around 18.00. Someone must have looked after him, because he was looking happy enough when we got on the return bus. We sat together and it was the first time I'd had a good chat with him.

Despite the wasted day he seemed very happy.

"http://www.co8.org/forum/images/smilies/icon_yikes" alt="icon_yikes"> I would feel dirty and cheap having a "football mistress" and cheating on my beloved Rams.

When I was young and foolish mind, it did cross my mind to have a menage au trois with Cowdenbeath, I'd heard talk of these threesome thingy's, but I resisted the temptation and have remained true to my one footballing Mrs.  :)

If anybody would like a trip to see Malaga play Real Madrid/Barcelona I always have a spare bedroom, nice to have the company of a Rams fan,and maybe you could reciprocate with a bedroom for me to watch a game at the ipro.It could be a cheap weekend, only would cost a flight from East Midland and a match ticket,I will do the rest, collect you from airport etc

I tend to have teams in the countries I have lived or visited. Funnily enough they are all mid table to second division teams at best that have all had one glory period that has not yet been repeated ( a bit like my first love of The Rams).

Real Zaragoza - currently in the Segunda but won the UEFA Cup in 1995

Racing Club de Paris - the other team in Paris, won the league in the 30

I'm a Derby County fan not a football fan. I have very little interest in watching other teams play, and only really do when I'm with other people.

I have played football all my life though so perhaps 'not a football fan' is a slight overstatement.

Edit : I occasionally go to watch Livingston when I'm at home. I used to have a ST when I was much younger. I was born in Livingston though, and they are never going to compete with Derby so it's not really cheating.

I have some clubs I like, but never been to see any of them. It's a vastly different affection that I have for Derby, Derby is "my team" and the only team I could actually call myself a fan of. The others are just clubs I want to see do well,  but I'm not a fan as such of them.

We moved house in 1968 and I remember meeting the kids on the street when I was asked what team I supported as I didn`t have a team  I just copied the biggest  boy and said Man City I think they were champions then. Two years later my Dad took me to the baseball ground for the first time and I was hooked for life. But Iv`e always had a soft spot for City

Been to helluva lot of Hull City games via a friend during the 90's. Back when they were *****, although I got to see Dean Windass come through. Could see he was going to go onwards and upwards.

Proper ground was Boothferry Park, naughty fans aswell.

Went to a number of Kettering Town games via same friend. They were his football mistress.

Merthyr away on a foggy Tuesday on a pissing down open terrace.

That's one thing you miss with Derby. Proper terracing.
