Doesn't mean I can't also look back his tenure and wished he'd done things differently and even criticise some aspects. Why is Nigel Clough immune to criticism? I've heard some United fans criticising aspects of Sir Alex Ferguson's reign and leaving them in a bad state when he left. Oh if Jim smith didn't keep buying defenders when we were crying out for a striker we'd have been in Europe! Best derby manager of my lifetime mind. Maybe the question should be as soon as Nigel was sacked we have a little bit of money to spend and from what the chairman said the biggest sponsorship deal of its kind......funny that happened straight after nigel going. And just ask yourselves this go back to Steve being appointed if we had nose dived Just say IF we had what would this forum have said.............you make me laugh you really do. Im not against steve and he hasn't done everything right but some people just fit a club don't know why they just do.But it would have been nice to see Nigel take us all the way.And back then his heart was with derby and that's what mattered.I wouldn't blame him if it wasn't now. The amount of investment in players, loans, McClaren has been afforded has been like chalk and cheese for Cloughs team. Just look at our squad depth. Clough was never allowed this, not even in the period right before he left. This is one huge reason Rush must take a lot of credit, he has somehow managed to twist the investors arm into much more investment in the last 12 months or so.
