Ahead of one of those three in team selection .....all I need to know is Jeff is fit and in the team and we have our alternate route to success .....he just storms at opposition and runs like crazy, moves the ball at pace, and will hurtle past defences, run at defences and get them retreating/moving quickly.  Once you have opposition having to think quick and move quickly, gaps appear.

Even before sending off game was crying out for Jeff to come on ..his kind of game.

He played on right of a notional midfield four yesterday. Held his position mostly, just making it into the middle of pitch at times .

Does not cover ground as much as Bryson without the ball, but when he has it in possession he moves with ball so much quicker than anyone else we have.

I know it would be risky, but I would love Jeff to be able to play the CDM role, until Thorne comes back.

Jeff most mobile player we have, just needs to learn the role for his development.

Eustace gave a 45monute master class in the role yesterday. Effortless performance .....one or two errors, which were "skill" related which Jeff/Will would not make ....

I too would like to see him in the CDM role; Hendrick needs to be in the lineup, he's a bona fide STUD. But not too sure I want to break the magical bryso-hughes thing right now ... so slot him behind those two.

It doesn't work. We've tried Hendrick in behind Hughes and Bryson a few times and it's just awful. The best players don't necessarily make the best team.

In the long run, I'd like Hughes and Hendrick together in midfield but he'll have to work his way back into it.

I'm sure Hendrick was tried at CDM last season and just never quite "worked" in the way Hughes never really worked in that role. Id dinner have Eustace/OMG and one of Hughes/Bryson with Jeff.

People see his size and want to do it. Fact is, he is at his best charging forward with the ball at his feet and having a few shots on goal. Not doing donkey work in defensive midfield.

It's just not possible to shoe horn all 3 in to the team at once.

It only worked yesterday as they were down to 10 and none of them really played defensive midfield.

Hendrick can't play CDM. He's an attacking midfield player who scores goals and can take people on with a burst of powerful running. Didn't Jeff play CDM when Leicester whacked us at their place?

I think all 3 are brilliant ... which leads me to the depressing conclusion that at some point, perhaps once we secure promotion, Will Hughes will be the one we let go .. for about 12-15million ... and his destination will be Liverpool. Rodgers and McClaren must have had the discussion and there must be some sort of contingent agreement going ... ie if we make the Premier League you can have him for X amount as long as we can continue to get first dibs on loans of your best prospects this season etc. Hendrick Bryson and Thorne are then the long term midfield options in that scenario. I hope I am wrong.

The 'midfield 5' with all fit is always a nice problem to have, i remember the discussions on here before wembley, everyone had their own idea of who should play and where.... not much has changed from then, except Thorne :(

When all 3 are fit, we pick the 2 most in form, or the 2 most suited for the type of game we are expecting.  We don't have to pick the same 2 every week, and given how we play, the other guy will get on the pitch at some point in the game most weeks anyway.  The main thing is that we put square pegs in square holes.  We've tried repeatedly to get all 3 to work in the same midfield, and it's never worked (under normal circumstances anyway).  And even if it does work, whoever ends up sitting will be having their natural game hampered by the role anyway, so what's the point?  We want Hughes threading balls in the final 3rd, we want Bryson making surging runs into the box and we want Hendrick picking up the ball and powering past people.  None of them can do those things if they are sitting deep.  I do think we have to have at least one out-and-out passer in the team, so that's either Thorne or Hughes (or maybe Mascarell if he gets settled in well).  So for me at the moment, I would be starting Hughes and one other, at least until Thorne gets back or Mascarell steps up.
