Seems like a decent guy to me.

Bit of an annoying voice but he's at least got something interesting to say, unlike 99% of people in the public eye.

Obviously very intelligent and knows lots of big words. I'm not a huge fan of his comedy but his interview with Paxman warmed me to him and is well worth a watch on Youtube.

I like the way, in that interview, he talks about various problems with the country, and paxman asks, 'Well how would you fix it?' And he replies that he's just a comedian, a social commentator, he's not expected be able to fix it. It's the governments job, ultimately, to fix it, and they're not.

And I like that honesty. He's not trying to say he's got the answer to everything, or that he's more than he is. He just understands he's a good orator and can use that talent to make people aware of issues.

Paxman keeps trying to catch him out, but he doesn't bite at all. He really did well in that interview.

Has lots of socialist principles does Russell, and looks forward to a revolution where he can put the capitalists against the wall! ? This bullshit from a guy getting c$10 million a movie. Well let's see you give some of your money to socialist causes Russell. Donate a fair whack of your money back to the revolution fighting fund and then I

I don't think he is funny but I do think he is intelligent and he raises some good questions. Doesn't always provide an opinion on the answers to those questions but knowing where the problem lies and what needs to be asked is half the battle if we want to progress as a race so people like him do a lot of good.

I've noticed something different in your posting style in the last week or so Tombo. Has someone stuck a book about equality, humanity and philosophy up your ass since you have been at Leeds Uni?

P.s. Notwithstanding, hope you have settled in, and have a couple of notches on the bed post.

I'm not at Leeds Uni, I stayed in Derby. University of Derby. But I'm just in **** student accommodation with a lot of time to think so maybe that's why I'm talking all this rubbish.

Or maybe all those notches on my bed post have given me a new outlook on life. I'll let you decide which.

What are you majoring in?

Great mate.My undergrad was in Psychology with a minor in History.Good luck to you.

I have never understood what 'majoring' and 'minoring' is. My degree was Publishing with English. But I didn't major in one and minor in the other, it was a joint degree, and quite a rarity in England I think.

I do approve of the idea though. You get too many students get to their third year realising they hate the subject they've chosen, but they might a well stick it out now. Whereas at least in the American system, you've got a minor to fall back on if you decide you hate your major (unless I really don't get it).

Off topic, sorry. Russell Brand, leg. He doesn't ptetend to be a politician, which is good, because if he ran, the daft British publix might even vote for him, which would be a disaster, and he admits that. But he asks the right questions and provokes thought and debate. That's got to be a good thing.

Someone show me he has. I might be in for a long wait. A very long wait.

why does he new to publicly announce what he's doing for charity?

If he did, all the cynics of the world would jump down his throat telling him he's doing it for publicity....

I accept the point Mafia and I know he is damned if he does and he is damned if he don't. But, given he spends much of his time spouting his pretentious ******, I think it is about time we did see some tangible evidence of what he is doing for the poor, the needy, the addicts, etc. I might be wrong but I don't recall ever seeing him do much physical on Comedy Relief for instance. Has he been out to help sick kids overseas, or has spent a few nights down on the streets in London helping the homeless? Very much doubt it, because that would interrupt his diary commitments of drinkies with Jonathan and Noel, jumping into bed with any bird who smiles at him, or earning vast amounts of money "acting" or "occasionally being amusing" on stage. Don't get me wrong, fair play to him on all those matters. I just gag a bit when he plays the revolutionary socialist card.
